10 Mistakes You Should Avoid When Writing Your CV by Geetee500: 12:38pm On Nov 30, 2020
Do you know that 80% of applicants don't get a job because of wrongly written CV?

Here are ten CV mistakes you must avoid if you want to win an interview/get a job

After reviewing lots of resume, doing lots of research and having clients pay me to write their resume for them, here are 10 mistakes you should avoid when writing your resume:

1. Using unprofessional email address; your email address should be a combination of your names

2. Including a profile photo or an headshot

3. Using elaborate colour and font

4. Including an objective statement: Objective statement is obsolete, the right one to use is a professional or branding summary

5. Listing job description: rather than listing job description, use action words and verbs that quantity your accomplishments

6. Poor spelling and grammar: Always ask your friends or relative to help you proof read your resume and correct any error.

7. Too long and too short: Your resume shouldn't be too short or too long, if you have less than 5 years work experience, your resume should be one page but if you have more than 5 years work experience, a two page resume is fine.

8. Generic resume: Your resume should be specific to the job you're applying for. Use keywords or keywords phrases in the job posting, this help your resume to be ATS optimized. For more information on how to write an ATS optimized resume, send a DM.

9. Including references in your resume: Do not put your referees in your resume. However, you should have it in a separate document in case the hiring manager ask for it.

10. Using the wrong file format: Use a document or PDF file format.

There's a lot of competition in the job market, for you to land your dream job, you need to standout.

One way to do that is by having a good, eye catching & stunning resume/CV

Your CV is the first document the hiring manager will see, if it is not properly written, YOU MIGHT NOT GET THE JOB (I'm sure you don't want this)
