How To Make Your Sayings Sure (2) by SonofIssachar: 12:13am On Dec 01, 2020
Today we will conclude our devotional on how to make your sayings and utterances sure, backed with the seal of heaven.

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees.
– 1 Kings 18:41-42

The second way to make your decree effective is to immediately and continually back such utterance with fervent prayer. In fact, this is the major reason prophecies are not fulfilled, as God actually wishes us well and desires that good fortune happens to us. So, oftentimes, the first reason may not be the cause of unfulfilled prophecies. The difference between an effective decree and a lame word is the prayer life of the person talking.

In the passage above, we are presented with a model of effective prophecy. Elijah had earlier decreed that there would be drought in the land for a length of time, which lasted for three and half years, and the situation will only be reversed until he decreed otherwise. And it was so.

And when he finally had a leading to end the drought and call rain upon the land, he announced to the king. But, what he did immediately afterward was the secret to making your prophecy sure, and the focus of our meditation today, he took a praying posture!

Once the word was out of his mouth, he immediately entered a praying mode and did not get up from that position, despite initial discouragements, until he got a physical evidence that his decree would come to pass. He told the king to go eat and drink, and that was exactly what Ahab went to do, but he (Elijah) could not afford that luxury yet; he proceeded to the top of the mountain in earnest prayer until his decree had come to pass.

Perhaps, we can learn from the example of Elijah; it is not just enough to say sweet things to ourselves and others. We must also back our professions with fervent prayer for them to come to pass. We must do more than talking. Your prayer life is the difference between an empty talk and an effective utterance.

You will succeed in Jesus Name!
