It is on record that Wike has been the biggest supporter and financier of IPOB over the years and it peaked after 2015. He is rumored to be using fronts in his dealings with IPOB over the years and that is why the group never condemned him even when they always criticize South East governors and call them names, they never condemned Wike, instead they are known to sing his praises and support whatever he says or does.

Discerning people will observe that Wike behaves and thrives in propaganda like the group. At one point, Wike said he stood with IPOB and would go to war if need be. At another time, he claimed that Rivers was a Christian state. Now, imagine Ganduje saying Kano was a Muslim state or that he would go to war if need be. These are careless and inflammatory statements not deserving of a sitting governor and they are exactly the sort of propaganda IPOB often uses.

Remember, there was a time IPOB activities became so strong that threats and counter threats started to be thrown at each other between some groups in the East and North, it was at this time that South East governors came together in Enugu and proscribed IPOB. That proscription drastically reduced their activities in the South East. However, Rivers State suddenly filled the gap that was created. All of a sudden, Obigbo in Rivers State became the headquarters of IPOB, successfully displacing Aba and Onitsha. At no time did Wike come out to condemn their activities instead he covertly supported them for selfish reasons.

Having used IPOB to gain popularity, Wike realized that he could actually ride on it to become Nigeria's president but for him to do so, he had to be in good terms with Northerners and other Nigerians, so he went to work. He quickly saw an opportunity in the endsars protests, so while other Southern governors allowed peaceful protests to take place, Wike immediately called a press conference banning any form of protests in Rivers State! He started attacking IPOB openly and followed it up by inviting the army to kill them in Obigbo. He claimed that IPOB was attacking Northerners in Rivers State so he had to step in to avoid bloodshed. Now, the question is, why would IPOB chose to attack Northerners in P.H and not Aba, Onitsha, Enugu or anywhere else in Igboland? Wike created this non existent scenarios through his propaganda and also stepped in with the solution by bringing in the army.
