SUNDAY: Should I go to CHURCH or not? by IsraelOA(m): 10:38am On Dec 06, 2020
You see, most of us in different parts of the world have grown up believing that the Church was a building, and that you went to worship as a weekly activity; thinking Faith, life and spiritual growth were all about getting into a building, because that building was where we can only encounter God.
That is only a partial truth.
But the greater and far more glorious truth dear friend, is that you are the Church; that God is ever-present, around and within you. And so wherever you find yourself this Sunday, is a Holy ground. When your mind and heart are oriented toward the things of God, your very life is an act of worship.
I repeat: When your mind and heart are oriented toward the things of God, your very life is an act of worship.
This Sunday:
You may be snuggled in your bed with your family and dog, telling stories and giggling away the morning, God is there.
You may be driving, walking or jogging through the empty roads with your heart opened, God is there with you.
You might be in the garden, your knees pressed to the damp soil, smelling the leaves just popping up through the ground, that's a Sacred ground too, God is there.
Church-less Sundays can bring a great deal of guilt, especially if you grew up in organized religion and when you find your spiritual life being defined by church attendance, you can tend to feel like you’re doing it wrong, or less spiritual. Please don't!
For many people, the main hindrance to their spiritual intimacy with God is organized religion, where there is a designed pattern of worship, with time allotted to every activities, whether you're carried along or not.
It is the thing that most hinders their pursuit of peace. It actually creates unrest within them.
Beloved, Divinity often comes disguised in ordinary days, uneventful moments, and typical conversations: making breakfast with your kids, playing with your pets, getting a rare quiet pause with your kid, reading a book you love. Which comes with rich, beautiful, faith-affirming experiences that do more for your soul than an organized worship service ever could.
Everything God has for you is available to you right where you are; in the washroom, in bed, around your table, at the game, pruning the flowers, driving down the street.
Christianity isn’t a building or an hour-long Sunday morning activity. It’s you living with a desire to reflect Jesus. Say Amen!!
Wherever you find yourself this Sunday, do this as best you can. God is with you. Whether inside or outside the church building, whether in your Sunday best or in ragged pajamas—be encouraged and be the CHRISTIAN died and rose for.
God Bless You, Much Love!
