That's why since primary school, what we have simplistically known as the major branches of Nigeria's ethno-linguistic configuration is the tripod of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Yoruba has had its turn. Hausa has had its turn. Now it is the turn of the Igbo. There's nothing like South in this context.
