The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) canvassed for voting to start from 8 a.m. with accreditation and voting starting at the same time, at the Chairmen of political parties meeting in Abuja with inec but the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) agreed with the INEC that accreditation should be done first and voting to start by 12:30 p.m.
INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega over ruled the opposition to the planned modified open ballot system and also stuck to his guns that accreditation would take place first and voting 30 minutes after.
He argued: “This system was used in 1993; and we used it in Delta State Governorship rerun and there was no complaint. We have gone far to change it; and we have trained our staff on this.
“If you change the system, you will have to change the date of elections.
