There have been a lot of talks about the resolutions reached at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee and some of these discussions have been laced with rumour and faulty reasoning.

Let me start with the waiver. Many people have falsely claimed that the waiver resolution was agreed upon because of Governor David Umahi, Honourable Yakubu Dogara and other persons who recently defected to the APC but this is not true.

The APC rule before now is that you must be a member for two years to be qualified to contest on its platform, this means that Umahi and Dogara would have been in APC for more than two years if they are to contest in 2023.

The waiver I believe is for the Soro Soke generation and others who might decide to join the party at a later date and might seek to contest on APC platform. For those who have been following Nigeria politics, you will agree that we have seen politicians defect in the morning and contest in the evening.

I am not sure that rule ever worked, so I will not lose sleep over it.
So how did Vice President Yemi Osinbajo save APC from fresh crisis? At the NEC on Tuesday, the VP’s wisdom came to play. It was his suggestion that ensured that state and federal courts didn’t have suit flying all over the place.

After the dissolution of state, zonal and national structures were dissolved he immediately suggested adopting the dissolved state excos as caretaker excos. This calmed frail nerves and ensured that although something had changed it would not rock the peace the party currently enjoys.

Let me also comment on the extension of Governor Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee. It is good and bad at same time. Good in the sense that the relative peace the party enjoins will continue but bad because time is of the essence.

Your headline and content don't match. Whereas you accepted waiver is for Umahi and co to contest, it doesn't state likewise in your headline.

You make no sense to me because the gathering wasn't about governance. Don't forget we are in recession for the second time in 5 years under the same party. The economy is down, security is totally collapse and the corruption is the other of the day and all they can discuss is party politics and party extension.

Buhari will be remembered for bad governance as it was in 80's.

You don't understand the headline, how can' you understand the content?

It is state that, you can only contest for an elected position provided you have been a member of the party for two years ...which means by 2023, not them them would have been due to contest for any elected positions. And for you the soro sokey, registration to join the party start soon, the earlier the better for you.
