Buildings in Nigeria are lifeless, and they don't inspire cultural pride among the population. We need to revisit and modernize our traditional architectural styles and incorporate them into things like train terminals, courthouses, government offices, and hospitals.

The following images are of traditional hausa architecture.

A new generation of architects are popping up not just in Nigeria but all over Africa, and slowly you are seeing African influenced architecture. We have been stuck in the colonial mindset for a lot of things and are just beginning to find our own identity, so just give it time, a lot of traditional style housing with a modern twist will start popping up.

The government of Togo incorporated their traditional styles into several landmark buildings in their capital, Lome.

Where? Give me examples. The only notable traditional architecture was done in the 80s and has fallen out of fashion.

Here is one in Ivory Coast. Call these buildings strange, but they make me proud to be an African -- unlike the lifeless nonsense we are copying from the West.

It is not nonsense except you mean the trashy ones we build. There are more traditional buildings in the west than in Africa. Except by the west you mean USA.
