I'm asking this question because of what we go through here in Abuja anytime any president wants to go out

It happened again this afternoon they blocked the whole of city gate for hours all because the president wants to go to airport

Everyone have to park and wait people missed their flights, some have emergency at home, some were rushing to hospital all activities was standstill
Why do they like suffering innocent Nigerians

Why can't NAF use chopper take the president to airport the rest of his official can go and wait for him at airport

I off my car for 2hours plus today waiting for president to pass

Write to Aso Rock and complain. Write to your Senator and Rep and complain. Write to all the newspapers and radio stations too. Start a petition on twitter, on Facebook, on Instagram and on Nairaland as you have done here, and keep reminding us so we never forget, and one day we just might shame them to change or we vote someone at the next election who would.

No, I'm not being sarcastic. And please, those of you who are tempted say this will not work must suggest something that would or be lazy moaning fuqs who don't know to use the powers they got.

My Dear Illustrious Most Excellent President Muhammad Buhari Sir,

Greetings.

I write to raise a concern that I am certain will concern you too.

Whenever you plan to journey in Abuja, your frontrunners close down the streets and roads for like 2 or more hours so we the humble citizens living in the state are unable to go about our business of putting food on our tables and tax in the Government's pocket.

Just yesterday for instance, we all had to park and sit in our cars in the hot sun for hours doing nothing while waiting for you and your convocade to drive by. Those of us going to the airport could not get there on time and missed our flights and some missed emergency appointments at hospitals and elsewhere. Shoppers could not get to the market to trade and many could not get to and from their workplace to earn an income. Students and teachers and lecturers missed classes and the local economy was on hold as we all waited for your most illustrious honourable person Sir, to go by.

Needless to say, while we wait in our cars in the hot sun suffering, and in the case of the more wealthy, running their car engines to run their airconidition thereby polluting the environment with the fumes of their cars which damages the climate and cost us in health remedies, I am most certain you would see how the tax revenue would have been dented too, which, in these hard times, could not possibly be desirous for us nor your hard working self and Government.

And it is not just you Sir, that the roads are closed for, nor in Abuja alone, as many of your very very hard working Ministers and Members of both the Houses and our Vice President and Governors too seem to enjoy the same priviledge wherever they are, of shutting the roads and mounting unnecessary avoidable hardship on us hardworking citizens in our illustrious Nation who are unable to go about our business.

I doubt that a very caring President such as you would be aware that this unnecessary hardship is inflicted on us and have endeavoured hereby to bring it to your attention so something can be done about it please as your success is very important to us as is our own individual success too and that of our great Illustrious Nation the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It would be rather counterproductive if all your's and our very hard work is ruined by such a simple oversight as this.

Might we suggest you all fly in helicopters perhaps, or reduce the time the roads are shut so we can go about our business instead of waiting for hours doing nothing for you all to go by in your entourage please, a trip, I am certain, takes you minutes but costs us and the local economy lots of lost hours and tax revenue.

We would be extremely delightfully grateful if you would, Sir.

The Almighty Allah will continue to bless you and us and your wonderful family and our Great Nation the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I guess taking the road is more economical, but the gra gra is just so unbearable. Almost missed a flight last year December because of this issue! Thankfully, I am the type that gets to the airport early and that was what helped me...we ended up taking off almost one hour late though...maybe some VIPs also ran late undecided
