Earlier Life and Career
Philip Osondu was born on November 28, 1971, in Aba, Nigeria. When RSC Anderlecht bought it in Belgium in 1988, he played for the El Kanemi Warriors in his hometown of Nigeria.

In 1994, he moved to the second division club, La Louvre, where the small and technically skilled striker scored five times in twenty matches. After one season he transferred to La Louvre during the winter break for Union St. Glais, where he completed the rest of the season. After that, he played several years for Digim Sport and FC Merchum 2000.

Osundo, who was considered to be one of the best skilled in his own country and was widely praised as a youth international, could never fulfil his potential in Belgium. He is often cited as one of the many young African nationals who were in a hurry to move abroad.

Cause of death

Golden Ball winner at the 1987 U17 World Cup Philip Osondu has passed after a brief illness, at the age of 48, in Belgium. Goal gathered that the former Nigeria wonderkid felt indisposed and visited the hospital to be examined, and subsequently passed away.
