Buhari Government better than Obasanjo government by Biodun556(m): 4:40pm On Dec 18, 2020
1. Opponents/ critics:

many opponents and suspected threat to political ambitions were assassinated under Obasanjo government. Bola Ige was killed,Idris Abdurkareem ran for his life and that brought an end to his career to mention few.

Buhari tolerates critics to a fault reasons why people talk anyhow without fear.

2. Aviation industry:

Close to ten plane crashes happened under Obasanjo government due to mismanagement of our aviation industries. A lot of people died, badly burnt alive. Nigerian Airways was sold without any tangible result till today.

Buhari has embarked on massive investment in our aviation industry by building world class airports. He even promised to bring back Nigerian Airways.

3. Rail Transport:

Nigerian rail transport was nothing to write home about under Obasanjo government and his government saw no need to revamp the sector.

Buhari came with total turn around of rail transport with international standard and up to taste locomotive, coaches and terminals.

Road construction:

Obasanjo set aside 500 billion naira to fix all federal roads all over the country, little or nothing was done. Even Lagos Abeokuta Express road that led to his home town and farm was abandoned by him. Now under Buhari most federal roads are under construction. Lagos- Ibadan express road is near completion, Lagos Abeokuta Express road is under construction, second Niger bridge and many others...

4. Security:

Boko haram struck in 2009 but there have been recruitment and training of the terrorists long before then. This happened under Obasanjo government. In 2002, they attacked two communities in Borno state, Dapchi and Kanamma.www.worldwatchmonitor.org/ali-modu-sheriff-and-boko-haram-a-history/

5. Fuel:

Obasanjo did not see any reason why Nigeria should have a refinery. He depended on imported fuel through out his 8years rule with incessant scarcity and increment in price. Labour strike was almost every year.

Buhari government issued 65 licenses to private companies to buil refineries in Nigeria. Many of them are under construction and at advanced stage.

6. Nigerian Army:

Nigerian military was in a mess under Obasanjo government. 2002 Ikeja cantonement bomb blast is still fresh in our memory. Thousands of people died in Lagos. The military was under equipped more reasons why boko haram was able to expand due to lack of weapons.

Buhari government embarked on massive infrastructure in the military. He ordered for 12 helicopters from Russia, 12 super tucarno aircraft from USA and 3 fight jets from Pakistan and many more.

7. Empowerment Scheme:

I'm not aware of any sxheme under Obasanjo government.

But there are too many under Buhari Government. Example N power, trader moni, 774, 000 jobs etc

8. Electricity:

Obasanjo promised stable electricity but without achievements. He share 16 billion dollars among his cronies all in the name of fixing electricity but without any achievements.

Under Buhari government we have been able to generate more than 7000 mega watts due to huge investment by the government. Lots of work is still on going.

9. Foreign exchange:

When Obasanjo came into office, naira was 20 naira to a dollar by the time he left it rose to 65 naira to a dollar.

By the time Buhari government stopped importations of refined fuel in a year to this time , the value of naira will appreciate. Many refineries are near completion and this will have positive impact on the value of naira and the economy at large.

10. Civil Servants:

A lot of federal civil servant were retrenched under Obasanjo government without pension.

Those who were not given pension by Obasanjo recieved it under Buhari government. There have not been retrenchment of workers under Buhari government despite witnessing recession twice.

Buhari achieved a lot we can go on and on.

So where is Nigeria Airways now? We go wait till the end of time?

3. Rail Transport:

Nigerian rail transport was nothing to write home about under Obasanjo government and his government saw no need to revamp the sector.

Obasanjo kicked off the renovation that all his succesors have continued. For once, railways is something I give kudos to both PDP and APC for doing

4. Security:

And Buhari said in 2016...Boko was defeated...yet up till today, Shekau and his gang are still active. Right...

The 60 licences were first issued under GEJ. Dangote started under GEJ, with his help.

Plus we don't have refienreis because all governments don't want to make refining petrol profitable by allowing the market to control the price, and by prIvatising NNPC.

Army that is still struggling with Boko..to the point that we have to call the mercs....

7. Empowerment Scheme:

But there are too many under Buhari Government. Example N power, trader moni, 774, 000 jobs etc

NDE? (NOT obasanjo byut active under his rule)...The shares project? ITF, etc, etc.

Nigeria needs more than 50000MW. 7000 Mw is not enough for our country. Plus power is bad because government does not allow power generation to be profitable in this country.

OK..Bubu met N216 to 1 dollar, now it is N500 to $1......

Plus we still import refined fuel. By the ton!

Dangote refinery too won't stop our importation of fuel. We need far more than just it.

And we need to earn dollars, so ending refined fuel import won't help us there.
10. Civil Servants:

So, how's the economic growth like?
How much is our debt?
What's the unemployment rate now?
How's the standard and cost of living of Nigerians since 2016?
How's security like now?
How's the educational and health sector fairing?

Which was bad and wrong as we all know..

Butr the protests won't have happened if the government had actually ended SARS two years earlier...when the issue came up . Instead they postponed the issue till people got too angry to care.

If APC cannot solve problems before they get worse, but leave them to fester, that's bad governance

How many time the president tell the lazy youths that sars had been scrapped?

They drag the protest longer than necessary because of the food and the money they were getting from sponsors

SARS should have been scrapped two eyars ago, when the matter was first raised.

The government did nothing..and the problem festered

Plus people have been complaining about SARS for years. An actively listening government would have been more proactive, instead of letting the issue fester

Security is above all. Followed by Food. And then Dollar exchange rate which inversely determines inflation rate. In these two indexes, Buhari failed woefully and should be stroked by the god of Thunder.

Besides these three indexes mentioned above, don’t compare Buhari to any government in Nigeria since independence. Buhari is better than all of them combined.

But it is when you are alive that you can uss the Airports that Buhari remodeled, use the Railways that Buhari built, use the roads and bridges that Buhari is building including the 2nd Niger Bridge that had been used to defraud Igbos since after the Civil War. The people that blood sucking Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram and Bandits have killed cannot use infrastructure built by Buhari.
