If Jesus Comes During This festive Season, Would He Find You Watching?

Jesus said:

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:37-39

If this particular saying of Jesus was anything to go by, that means that Jesus could very well come on Christmas day or during the festive season, because the instance He gave described a festive period and people in a celebratory mood. And there's no more festive period in a calendar year than Christmas.

So if Jesus comes during the festive season, would He find you watching?

Jesus said:

Matthew 24:48-51 (KJV)

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I don't think many have considered the possibility of Jesus coming in the festive period when people were in a celebratory mood, eating and drinking, dancing and partying, but from what Jesus said here, there is a likelihood that it's such a time when many do not expect Him to return, that He would. So many would be caught unawares because they're not ready for His return.

I have a feeling the 2002 Asian tsunami was a warning sign to mankind about what was to come, because it bore resemblance to what happened in the days of Noah, which Jesus said would be similar to what would happen on His return. It took place on the 26th of December, when the festive season was at a peak, when many were eating and drinking, dancing and partying, but they didn't know until the flood came and took them all away.

It hence became the worst disaster in living history, with over two hundred thousand lives lost, and I believe the period it took place significantly impacted the figures, hence that the casualties would have been far less had it not taken place on the festive period when people least expected and consequently least prepared for such.

Hence Jesus said:

Luke 21:34-36 (KJV)

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

So just as Jesus said, ensure that you don't get carried away with the Christmas celebrations, eating, drinking, dancing and partying that you forget to watch.

Because it's on such a day that you least expect Him that He would appear. So that when He comes, He wouldn't find you sleeping.

If not for stupidity I can't imagine how celebrating Christmas with foods and gifts will affect a christian watchman status.

Jesus spoke about people not becoming carried away with surfeiting because that could make someone to lose focus, so what other period could typify surfeiting than Christmas?
