6 Ways To Read Your Bible And Have A Deeper Understanding
A Lot of persons have tried studying the scriptures for years now without fully understanding much about the holy book. This happens as a result of some factors which I will be sharing with us today. So follow up the points and start understanding the bible well whenever you read it.
1. You need the Holy Spirit: he is the first things you need to understand the scriptures because he knows all things and will teach you all things.
2. Don't take scripture out of context: always know the context in which a particular passage is written, don't say because it says something like this in John then it must automatically mean the same thing in Romans because it must not, so checking of context is key.
3. Always know who the write up was referring to: Some things said in the bible were being referred to the jews which doesn't have anything to do with born again Christians but we take them as if they were for us while they are not. So always check who the passage is talking to, if it is the unbelieving jews, unbelieving gentiles, believing jews or believing gentiles etc.
4. Always know what the passage is referring to: Know if the passage is referring to the law of Moses which we know that as a believer Jesus came and fulfilled the law for us, which some of the laws changed after the death of Christ, some vanished while some remained the same, so find out and apply properly to yourself as a believer, don't take in everything hook, line and sinker.
5. If you really want to know, how to live as believer: Study more about the passages that taught about Jesus and righteousness and the death and resurrection of Christ more because that is where Christianity began. And you might not see this in math, mark, Luke, john and Co because some of the things Jesus did in these places were done under the law of Moses, but what we should follow as a believer are not things after the law but grace that came after the death and resurrection of Christ.
6. Don't just read a verse and conclude: Sometimes to get the clear message of what a particular verse of the scripture is saying, you need to first read the preceding or even the verse after or the whole chapter.
