The year 2020 has brought us a wide array of feelings. We experienced feelings of shock, anger, fear, disappointment, relief, and achievement this year.

Here is a snapshot of some of what we saw in 2020:

Nigeria :
¶ In Nigeria, this year recorded the highest cases of rape. Nigeria Records 717 Rape Cases in Five Months according to allAfrica.

¶ ASUU unnecessary strike in the midst on Covid19.

¶ Price hike on food, petrol electricity etc

¶ Endsars protest that later turn bloody.

¶ Nigeria is already losing its European oil market share to the US, this signifies a threat to Nigerian economy.


Around the world
¶ Australia’s wildfires, which were active from June 2019-March 2020, burnt 46 million acres of land

¶ The death of Qasem Soleimani led to days of unnerving tension between the United States and Iran

¶ The impeachment trial of President Trump began and finished with his acquittal

¶ The completion of Brexit after years of postponement finally became a reality

¶ The vicious spread of COVID-19 brought upon a global shutdown and crashed markets.

¶ This year marks the Largest lockdown in human history.

¶ Social distancing and face mask wearing became the new normal

¶ The murder of George Floyd led to a global movement of #BlackLivesMatter protests

¶ The 2020 Belarusian presidential election led to a historic number of protests to call for free and fair elections

¶ A massive explosion in Beirut, Lebanon killed over 200 people

¶ California wildfires burnt over four million acres of land

¶ The death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg led to the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett in the Supreme Court

¶ Donald Trump tested positive for the coronavirus and made a controversial public appearance

¶ A historic US election included a record number of mail-in ballots and declared Joe Biden to be the President-elect

¶ A resurgence of COVID-19 cases across the world and prospects for partial lockdowns in the coming months
