Even though the Anambra State Government, through the Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA), had been doing routine palliative works on that road every Christmas period, they had always ignored the main cause of problem at that very spot.

THE PROBLEM.
As usual, they did Laterite filling and grading and compaction on the evening of Thursday the 24th of December 2020.
But Fast-Forward to today which is exactly one week after, (Thursday the 31st of December 2020), there had been serious ponding on the road adjoining to the major road which the Government graded. Residents who live along this adjoining roads would have to swim through the pond before getting to their houses.

THE SOLUTION.
The best step towards the true solution to any problem is in identifying the true cause of the problem.
The bad Sammy-Sparkle Road is caused by inflow of flood and run-off and waste water from the adjoining road, which actually do not flow into the designated drainages and culverts; rather the floods and run-off would always find their ways to the surface of the road and percolate on the road surface and as well destroy the road subsurface.
All the earlier constructed (existing) drainages and culverts at that spot are all undersized, and they also had lowered inverts; and as such, they were not serviceable, which consequently lead to them getting silted up.
Properly Sized and adequately placed drainages and culverts are needed at that very spot in order to safely and conveniently convey the floods and run-off and waste-water off the road. (The culverts should also be designed in such a way that it should contain raised inverts and top-slab levels too, so as to avoid silting-up in the near future).
