*AMIDST NEW YEAR (2021) FESTIVITIES: YORUBA YOUTHS OF OGUN STATE CALLS ON GOVERNMENT FOR SECURITY, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AMONGST CITIZENS FOR A BETTER NIGERIA*

It's a known and undeniable fact that the state of our beloved fatherland (Nigeria) is so worrisome, and it calls for all possible attentions, clamours and prayers to get it back on its feet economically, morally, academically, socially as the Giant of Africa that we are.

Hence, while addressing the press, the No. 1 Omoluabi Ọdọ Oodua of Ogun State who happens to be the Chairman of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW) speaking on behalf of the entire Yoruba Youths extends his New Year felicitation to the good people of the Gateway State and Nigeria at large.

He further used this medium to call on the attention of the Government at all levels to call for more security for lives and properties of our people, as a matter of fact Nigeria is becoming a country where incessant killings is now becoming a matter of normalcy, we hear and see bad news everyday now in our country and it is getting to a point we are all getting used to it; he said.

We therefore call on all our country political leaders, elites and traditional rulers to get up on their feet and do something as a matter of urgency before the future of our country gets shortened in the hands of terrorists, kidnappers, untrained/careless officers (both Military and Paramilitary).

And to our fellow youths, colleagues, and the general public, let's shun all acts of indecency and embrace peace, because good behavior (Iwa Omoluabi) is a key as our elders in yoruba in their wise words will always say "Iwa rere lẹsọ eniyan, ka bi eyan ko tún ara ẹ bi ni iyi Omoluabi". We must all have at the back of our minds that if we have a peaceful, loving and united coexistence amongst ourselves irrespective of our religious beliefs or ethnic differences, there's no way our country would not be a safe place for all.

However, we must also remind us all once again that the second wave of the global pandemic known as Covid-19 is still very much rampant and even worse than the first wave, so we must all try as much as possible to strictly adhere to the laid down rules and guidelines the our Presidential Task Force (PTF) on covid-19 and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), in the battle to curb the spread of the virus. Remember health is wealth and when there's life there's always hope for a better future.

To this end, on behalf of all the entire body of executives, members and stakeholders of Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Ogun State Council, we wish both the government and citizens of our beloved Gateway state under the led administration of the youths friendly and listening Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun (M.F.R), a prosperous, war-free and virus-free New Year ahead. Compliments of the season!

Aku ọdún, Aku iyedun, emi wa ase pupo rẹ l'ayé, laaye ati laye ire o, oodua agbe wa, ajuwa se oo, Àṣẹ!

Yoruba ni mi, Omo kaaro ojiire!
