But to be honest, we Nigerians caused this problem...

Over 15 years ago, the brother of a footballer was kidnapped. The Police was ready to go and investigate...but the footballer asked them not to...because he was scared that if the kidnapeprs saw police, they would kill his brother

And so a ransom was paid, and the footballer was freed.

And thus, we Nigerians pay ransoms, some of us help the kidnappers, some of us benefit from the money, some of us look the other way.

Now, KIDNAPPING has become bg business, and the Police too have joined the payment train as well.

Kidnapping , wehtehr North or South, will stop when we Nigerians want it to stop. When we say wrong is wrong.

Kidnap of any roman catholic clergy,sister or brother is indeed the height of absolute wickedness.These are individuals that have nothing they can call theirs.No wife/husband,no kids/biological successors,nothing.And whatever any of them manages to achieve is taken by the church.Even the catholic pontiff is not paid a dime for all his works to the church.They are considered as individuals who voluntarily offered themselves up for the church and humanity.Do u know that the bishop does not have even a room he built he can call his own and when he dies,the church collects even the clothes he wears and gives to others.The car he uses is a donation to the catholic church from a good samaritan and not his.Another mysteious selfless aspect of catholic church can be found in catholic monks and nuns.Nuns are not the Rev. sisters u see daily as many writers ignorantly portray on operamini news.They hardly come outside,that's why people don't even know they exist.These monks and nuns spend their entire days on earth praying and fasting for all the people of the world.We see poverty as a curse.But they took the vow of remaining poor till they die.They own nothing and when they die,they are buried inside the monastery.At night while we are asleep,they are awake praying and interceding for people of all races.Let he who does not know ,read and understand and steer clear from catholic priests and professed religious men and women or incur the wrath of God.For what they are into,u can't accept even under duress considering African culture,mindset and beliefs.May God keep protecting his own.

It began in Delta State. The various militants pioneered it with the kidnapping of foreigners associated or working for the major oil companies. I remember clearly, when it began, arguing furiously against others in an Odili Net forum that supported it.

Those on the Odili Net forum that supported these kidnapping of foreigners accocited with the Oil firms agreed with the sentiment of the militants that saw these kidnappings as a means of pressuring the government to provide more jobs for Delta communities and mitigate environmental degradation by same oil firms. My argument against this was that others were going to copycat the militants but for personal profit. I couldn't see how these posters on the Odili Net forum that would spend every day labeling Nigerians greedy, corrupt and selfish, how in the same breath they would disagree with me that Nigerians would turn from politically motivated kidnappings to kidnapping for personal financial gain.
