A magistrate, Richard Bassey, collapsed on Tuesday at the gate of the Governor’s office on Day Two of the magistrates’ protest over unpaid 24 months salary.

He was, however, immediately revived by his colleagues who later took him to a hospital.

Unlike on Monday, the magistrates were in their full regalia with various placards on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the magistrates, Solomon Abuo, said no government official had addressed them since they began the protest.

He said they had been tossed about for the past two years with nothing concrete coming from the government.

“As I speak we are still working. We will continue to protest until we are paid. This is our last resort,” he said.

As of the time of filling this report, the magistrates were still awaiting the government’s response.

The state Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu, drove past the protesting magistrates without stopping to attend to them at the moment the magistrate collapsed.

Na wa o

Why are some people so heartless like this? How do you go to sleep with two eyes closed knowing fully well you are owing your workers 2years salary?

How do you celebrate your wife's birthday with so much joy knowing fully well you are owing your workers 2years salary, and this may be the reason they can't celebrate their spouse's birthday.

The country is messed up. The elderly ones at the helm of affairs are bad...and the youths waiting to take over are far worse, unbelievably.

A magistrate who hasn’t been paid is due, is that the same that would dispense Justice?

This is one of the reasons these people are corrupt because they have no future after their retirement.
