Currently, looking at the decisions political parties are battling ahead of the 2023 elections will it be safe to say that parties should give room to zoning or allow those who think they can lead the country to greater heights emerge? The merits of zoning is that it seeks to make everyone participate and feel they belong in a diverse group, promoting cultural heritage, tolerance and acceptance of differences. The demerits however makes the diversity in a group more pronounced and can be hijacked to devastating consequence to cause division to protect vested interest. While on the other hand letting to chance creates room for whoever to emerge and show they can lead come forward with their plans and manifestos gives a wider room for competence to bottle up, it also can exclude certain regions to benefit from the political process. I just keep thinking what will be best for Nigeria come 2023? |
