Think about it , instead of sending random ads that you might never be interested in , wasting advertisers money the company needs to get data on you to know the best ads to send you. With the data the company gathers about you they can understand your habits , your economic class and some other stuff.
For example let's say someone is trying to sell video games by advertising them , instead of sending ads to random users who might never buy them the company sends the ads to people who have a higher chances of buying the games. And how does the company find out that you're interested in video games ? They do so by monitoring your activities online , maybe you always make searches about video games , join video games group or some other data that indicates that you love video games.

This is explicit about 'data'. Thanks brother I understand now...so this is what they've been doing with my data. Well, like I always said I don't have much problem with that since there are disadvantages in building your house on another man's land.

Some of us r thinking beyond indeed - beyond the ephemeral; beyond the temporal.

People are leaving whatsapp because of the new rules they have introduced to share the users data with facebook. Once they share the users data with Facebook then your private chats might be exposed and you will be targeted with all those useless ads facebook keeps you showing all the times. The chats are meant to be conversations between people and should never go public. With this I guess the days of WhatsApp being the most used chatting application is limited.
