Nigeria was not called "the giant of Africa" for nothing. It's truly the giant of Africa. Here is a travelling ticket that resurfaced on the internet which showed how our exchange rate did command respect and was stronger than both US dollars and UK pounds. This travelling ticket shows as far back in 1979 and 1980 how $1000 exchanged for just #546.45 as at 13-October of the said year. Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari was the president of Nigeria as at this date before General Muhammadu Buhari took over in 1983. What went wrong? Now in 2021, almost 42 years later, the table has turned even worst. So pathetic. Everyday we are moving backward. We dont know whats wrong with us. Our leaders has failed us, they are fighting for their pockets. The worst part is that a single person can steal what is enough for 1m people at once. How do you expect naira to maintain its value. Our living standard is very low, majority of us living in Nigeria if you compare your counterpart in other countries you are just typical almajiri walahi.. 1 Like |
