IME1:I was having this same discussion with a friend the other day and I asked him why is it that those in government have private businesses that they run and are successful but the same people can't run the government the way they run their businesses? The simple answer is they see their business as their own but see government as our own. They do whatever they want when they are in government because it's not theirs so naturally they do things that benefits only them in government. 2 Likes |

C ednut1: Almost all the facilities for the London 2012 Olympics are in private or quasi private hands today having been sold off. What is government doing with a stadium after an event for heavens sake. That stadium in Lagos was built to host the All African Games just as the on in Abuja was intended and immediately after the games it should have passed on as a commercial enterprise while it still held sporting attraction. Hosting big sporting or cultural events come once or at most twice in a lifetime and that is enough for government to invest massively in new stadia and once they are over recoup part of its investments and move on. A win win for all. 4 Likes |

JaneYave:Amen. But this one is due to lagosians intolerance to super eagles loosing games at the stadium.the last game they lost at the stadium, their lives were threatened even the players couldn't come out of dressing room because the fans were ready to beat them. Oliseh captain of super eagles vowed they wouldn't play games there anymore. That was the beginning of the 'stadium illness' A good Nigerian,Kensington is sponsoring the renovation of the pitch, not the whole structure. 1 Like |

Nwobodo reemerged as Minister for Sports under Sani Abacha’s murderous military regime in 1995. He allegedly moved the generator at the National Stadium, Surulere to his home in Amaechi..... He was part of the destruction you are looking at ryt now |
