Lionel Messi was sent off as Barcelona were beaten 3-2 by Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final. Ronald Koeman’s team lost their first final of the season and their captain lost his head in extra time as the game slipped away from them. It was Messi’s first red card for Barcelona and only the third of his career.
