NO fewer than three persons have been injured in a clash that occurred in Gaa Seriki village, Alagolo, Iganga, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

One person was also said to be missing with about 10 huts razed in an incident that began Thursday afternoon.

The victims both from the Yoruba and Fulani residents of the area.

While two Yoruba indigenes identified as Jamiu Junaid and Sunday Isaiah suffered machete wounds at the hands of rampaging youths after some huts in their hamlet were burnt, a Fulani, Ahmed Isah was axed.

The victims are receiving medical attention at different hospitals in the community.

Trouble was said to have started Thursday afternoon when a popular indigene of the area, Mr Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho) stormed the residence of the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdul-Kadir to complain about what he termed the incessant attacks on people of the area.

When The Nation visited the Igangan community, it was gathered that while the brief meeting was ongoing, some hamlets in the area were being set on fire.

However, immediately after the departure of Sunday Igboho and his team, it was gathered that some angry Fulani residents attacked four youths who were returning to the village from the farm on a bike.

Speaking with The Nation, the Seriki Fulani, Alhaji Abdul-Kadir denied knowledge of the attack, saying the Fulani in the community now live in fear.

He called on the government to come to their aid, adding that they have lived peacefully in the area as responsible citizens of the state.

Speaking on the incident, a member of Iganga Development Advocates, Mr Oguntade Blessing accused the security operative of negligence, noting that the attack on the resident by the Fulanis happened in their full glare.

The Executive Assistance to Governor Seyi Makinde, CP Sunday Odukoya (retd) said the government has commenced investigation into the matter, assuring that those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Odukoya who visited Iganga and all the victims at the separate hospitals where they are receiving medical attention, said the government is not asking the law abiding residents irrespective of their tribe or creed to leave any part of the state but only criminal elements.

He said the governor gave an order on the adequate safety and protection of all the residents of the community the moment the information of the incident got to him, urging the people to support the government by exposing criminal elements in their midst as a final panacea to the crisis.

Three injured, one missing in Oyo community tribal clash
By Bisi Oladele and Yinka Adeniran, Ibadan

No fewer than three persons were injured in a clash that occurred in Gaa Seriki Village, Alagolo in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government area of Oyo state.
One person was also declared missing with about ten huts in a hamlet razed in an incident that began on Thursday afternoon.
The victims were from Yoruba and Fulani residents of the area.
While two Yoruba indigenes identified as Jamiu Junaid and Sunday Isiah were macheted by rampaging and angry youths after some huts in their hamlet were razed, the injured Fulani victim, named Ahmed Isah, was axed by unidentified assailants.
The victims are receiving medical attention at different hospitals in the community.
Trouble was said to have started Thursday afternoon when a popular indigene of the area, Mr Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho), stormed the residence of the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdul-Kadir, to warn him as well as the Fulani residents in the community over incessant attacks on indigenes of the area.
He was alleged to have issued a seven- day ultimatum to the entire Fulani residents to vacate the community and entire Yoruba land, adding that disregard of his order was an invitation to war.
The Nation gathered that while the brief meeting was ongoing between the monarch, Sunday Igboho and members of his entourage, some hamlets in the area were being set on fire.
Some of those who accompanied Sunday Igboho were accused of being behind the burning of the huts.
In a viral video of the visit, Sunday Igboho was said to have collected guns and cutlass from some Fulani residents who had trooped out, mistaking the visit for an attack on their leader.
However, immediately after the departure of Sunday Igboho and his team, it was gathered some angry Fulani residents attacked four youths innocently returning to the village from the farm on a bike.
Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Abdul-Kadir denied knowledge of the attack in a chat with The Nation.
He said Fulanis in the community live in fear and apprehension because of the ultimatum issued by Sunday Igboho.
He called on the government to come to their aid, adding that they have lived peacefully in the area as responsible citizens.
A member of Igangan Development Advocates, Mr Oguntade Blessing, accused security operatives of negligence, noting the attack on indigenes by the Fulanis happened in their full glare.
He told The Nation Sunday Igboho team team had only staged a peaceful protest to residence of the Fulani leader and did not fire any single shot to attract reprisal on the innocent farmers.
Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd.) said the government has commenced investigation into the matter, assuring that those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Odukoya, who paid an on-the-spot-assessment to the scene of the incident in Igangan as well as to all the victims at the separate hospitals, said the government is not asking law- abiding residents irrespective of their tribe or creed to leave any part of the state but only criminal elements.
He said the Governor gave an order on the adequate safety and protection of all the residents of the community the moment information of the incident got to him, asking for exposure of criminal elements in their midst.
He added that no one has the power to give an order or ultimatum to any other resident to leave or vacate any part of the state.

This is false news and it's laced with wrong info. No wonder it was taken down by the news blog after.

Fact one; Yoruba don't bear such surname ' Jamiu Junaid

Fact two ; Yoruba people don't live or dwell in HUT but the fulanis so, if at all any village or place was burnt down then it's probably the Fulani's village or settlement.

Fact three; the News was taken down perhaps the Otondo news outlet found that the news is laced with false info after all. The direct link is broken.

And finally Fact four; this is the video of what happened, below ;

I call it " the Fulani's on the run...
