*UPDATE FROM SENATE*

With many hopes and expectation hovering the hearts of both students and staffs of the Federal University of Technology Minna regarding school resumption and continuation of academic activities, with the revelation of the adjusted academic calendar, the senate of the university composed a meeting which was presided by the university Vice Chancellor, Professor Bala Abdullahi.


The meeting was with expression of interest toward resumption and continuation of academic activities within the university. The VC also commended the effort of SLS, SIPET and SEET team that worked together to ensure the availability of admirable preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19 within the university campuses and environ.

According to the DVC, Academics, the school is *almost* safe for resumption and he encouraged the students of the university to stay safe in their various places to avoid contact with a carrier as well as to prevent the spread of Covid-19 that led to recent global pandemic. He also assured that the safety precautionary measures that is being put in place by the university is second to none so far in any of the country's university. He further illustrated that, the newly adjusted academic calendar would be released soonest, all things being equal.

As the meeting would reach conclusion at around 12:47pm on Wednesday 20th of January, 2020, the anticipation was fed with positive conclusion.

As reiterated by the committee, that of recent, a proposal of three months postponement for schools in Nigeriawas raised by the national house of representatives as an appealing precaution to curtail the spread of Covid-19; the university committee said it won't be alright for academic and students due to the very long time spent at home with all academic activities and progression on the status quo. Notwithstanding, the committee arrived at a conclusion that life matters most and that staying safe is more important compared to any other good desires.

In conclusion, the university community will adhere to pitch tent with the proposal of three months postponement of resumption of schools.

The VC further encouraged students of the university not to be discouraged but rather see it as a great opportunity to prepare themselves well for resumption, reassuring that the university will resume soonest and the academic schedule will be congested.
