This will be another test to the strenght of Yar Adua. WHy is IBB and all this governors so scared of RIBADU?

Pressure is being mounted on President Musa Yar’Adua to sack the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

Sources told P.M.NEWS that former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd), Chief Tony Anenih and the former governors EFCC is hounding over allegations of corruption, are at the forefront of those mounting pressure on Yar’Adua to sack Ribadu, considered to be an errand boy of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The pressure, according to our sources, is aimed at moving against all Obasanjo elements in the party, including Ribadu, who are wielding too much influence in PDP whereas IBB and former governors do not feel too comfortable with them, considering the critical parastatals of government they head.

In the event that Ribadu is removed, the pressure group want him redeployed to perform his normal police duties. It was further gathered that Ribadu would be replaced at the EFCC by a Deputy Commissioner of Police from Ekiti State, Tunde Ogunsakin.

The pressure to remove Ribadu from EFCC, sources said, is part of the general struggle within PDP to rein in the Obasanjo elements in the party.

Obasanjo was said to have seen the writing on the wall while he was on vacation in Jamaica and had to cut short his holiday and rush back to the country to salvage the situation which was akin to power slipping off his hands.

One of the clandestine moves to clip the wings of Obasanjo and his acolytes in PDP was the endorsement of Anenih as chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees while Obasanjo was away in Jamaica.

It was also gathered that when Ribadu was about to make good his threat of arresting and jailing former governors whom he accused of money laundering and other corrupt practices while in office, to the extent that his agency had created executive cells for the ex-governors, he was prevailed upon by Yar’Adua to take it easy with the former state chief executives so as not to rock the boat since his government is still young.

Our sources P.M News also informed that IBB must have been instrumental to the appointment of Ambassador Babagana Kingibe as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

This, our sources said, is to checkmate any attempt by Obasanjo to hold Yar’Adua hostage. Obasanjo had reacted angrily when he heard about Kingibe’s appointment while Kingibe himself made a snide comment many believed was directed at Obasanjo, when he said that the Yar’Adua government would be different from that of Obasanjo.

I think for the ordinary masses Yar Adua will be sending wrong message to them by removing or redploying RIBADU.

Usually, one tree does not make a forest. Ribadu is effectively EFCC. Once is gone, the next man wil not have the freedom to do as he pleases with information and evidence.

If you look at the people lobbying to have RIBADU removed are the set of people who has skeleton in their cupboard and have been looking forward to be able to breath sigh of relief.

RIBADU is unique and lucky to have OBJ give him freedom to chase anybody. Even with the so called selective justice, he practically chase or put fear in the majority of people destroying Nigeria including the former Governors.

Now that OBJ is gone, that would be an opportunity for him to then be asked to question all the protege of OBJ like Andy UBA,Adedibu etc

I am not sure that Yar Adua will allow RIBADU to arrest and prosecute Atiku as they both come from the same political stables. And all former governor because they 'step aside' for him during the pDP primaries. Take the example of IBORI and IGBINnedon, they played a major role in Yar adua candidacy knowing that they have to wet the ground for them to step on cool ground.

On a final analysis, Yar Adua should find a way to keep RIBADU quite for a while whilst he consolidate his government and thereafter send him out to catch 'he uncathable' and prosecute them.

God will show his kindness and bless our great country Nigeria.

Hausa people always stick together If Yar Adua give in to this pressure that will be precedence for his downfall. He need to be his own man and make his own decisions and not give in to any pressure from any angle. Ribadu performed in my book and he need to finish the job he started. All the people are scared because Ribadu is there they will never have peace of mind. Why is IBB name even still mention in Nigerian politics?

1.  I Pray that the northerners continue to stick together oh!  Something good for us in the south to emulate!

2.  IBB's name will keep coming us because that is the nature of the inner workings  of the typical "Nigerian" brain!  REDUNDANCY!  You keep looking at things you have failed in and forget the more pressing matters at hand!  Trying to play catch up! Living in the "yesterdays" an forgetting the "todays" and the "tomorrows"!  It is called a state of "CHRONIC AGBEKPOISM"!  Alway good in finishing last!  Specialists in "HAD I KNOWN"! Always trying to re-write history to make ourselves feel better! Kai!  WE CAN NEVER CATCH UP!  So listen up!  The time is now not redundant people that will set us back further!  When we have dealt with the present and put everything in place, the past will have no problems fitting into the present!  So people like IBB if still alive will be dealt with too!

@Mamajama

at this time in civilization, it is indecent for any living organism in its right mind to quote PM News. Did you read the story?
Our sources said, our sources claimed, what kind of rubbish guessing and rumour mongering is that?

This same PM News that has featured headlines with young Nigerian girl pictured naked after they refused to yield to cash sum blackmails?

Mamajama, you pass this level O!
