The La Liga club said in a statement on Friday that Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has tested positive for the coronavirus.

After a close contact with the French coach it's reported that he isolated himself for Covid-19 earlier this month. He was not attending the training.

Zidane, who is under pressure earlier this week following the shock cup loss of Real to third division side Alcoyano, will not be available with his assistant David Bettoni expected to take over for their La Liga match away at Alaves on Saturday.

Real are second in the table, seven points behind their city rivals Atletico Madrid, who have a game in hand.

Earlier this season, Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard, midfielder Casemiro and defender Eder Militao all tested positive.
