It is difficult to understand or accept any justifiable reasons why someone will end his life. why should one even welcome the thought of suicide, reasonable question you might say.
It is however frightening and even shocking to note that suicde gives no consideration to education status, career or financial status, etc. simply say it can occur at any time, any place, and to anyone under various circumstances.
DO YOU KNOW THAT;
(1)Every year about 800,000 commit suicide world wide
That means one person every twelve seconds
(2)In some countries the cases of suicide are higher than homicide cases.
(3)In Nigeria around 17,000 Persons commit suicide annually. Nigeria is the sixth-highest place in the world for suicide cases,

WHAT TRIGGERS SUICIDE
*Mental Illness e.g depressions, autism, bipolar, etc
*Alcohol and drug abuse and or withdrawal.
*poverty and social vulnerability.
*victimization, physical and sexual abuse.
* loss of loved one in death.
*complicated relationship e.g divorce and separation.
*painful betrayal by trusted and loved persons
*The feeling of being betrayed by God.
*Whereas some cases of suicide are impulsive acts due to financial or educational failures etc.

DO YOU KNOW THAT 8 OUT OF 10 VICTIMS OF SUICIDE HAVE CONFIDED IN SOMEONE AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE, BUT HE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE SERIOUS?

So the difficult Question begging to be answered is, could it have been avoided if actions were taken by those confided in.
Arguably many suicidal cases are avoidable or at least preventable.
What could have been done?
(1)Every mental health issues should be treated promptly
(2)Those in government and authorities as well the society at large must work together in reducing poverty and social vulnerabilities
(3)We must try to give people hope for a better life no matter what their present situations are.
(4)we must act promptly when a close person threatens of taking the suicidal path, often they are not joking, they are for real.
(5)We must keep all lethal items e.g poison, pesticides, weapons, etc away from someone who has attempted suicide before and keep him company at all times.

WE CAN PREVENT SUICIDE FROM OCCURRING OR AT LEAST REDUCE ITS INCREASING RATE ONLY IF WE ARE ALERT. MAY WE
NEVER BE TAKEN UNAWARES.

Parents too are sometimes part of the cause, scold a child but not to the extent of making the child feel useless always...
