Kaftan TV Kickstarts Free Broadcasting Skill Developing Training For Ondo Youths by EkimogunDecide: 9:04pm On Jan 25, 2021
Kaftan Television, an African indigenous multimedia company, aimed at projecting the potentials of Africa to the world has commenced free television broadcasting training for youths in Ondo Kingdom, Ondo State. The program is named “QUEEN LILIAN ADEBAYO TV BROADCASTING TRAINING” after the sponsor Queen Lilian Adebayo Foundation.

The leadership of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC), under the Ondo Development Committee (ODC) had earlier approached the management of Kaftan TV seeking for an opportunity to empower their members in 21st Century skills that can make them competitive globally. This is to address the unemployment and unemployability challenges frustrating many of their members, as well as many Nigerian youths even after university graduation. The request was granted by Kaftan TV, with the recommendation of the Osemawe of Ondo KIngdom, Oba Dr. Adesimbo Victor Kiladejo CFR, Jilo III.

The skills to be learnt by the youths include Camera Operations, Video Editing, On Air Presentation, Online Content Marketing among others. The inauguration for the capacity building program took place at the Ondo Studio of the Kaftan TV on Monday 25th January, 2021.

The Coordinator I of the Ondo Ekimogun Youth Congress (OEYC), Mr Olusola Akinbinu charged the candidates to make the best use of this rare opportunity. He said, skills, expertise, and social organization are what drive every prospering economy in the world today. Nigeria is still largely fragmenting over proceeds of crude oil sales and other natural resources, despite our fast growing population. This accounts for the frustration among our youth because there are too limited opportunities available to their potentials and God given values. He said further that the skills they are set to acquire are invaluable assets with which they can use to negotiate their existence in any society they find themselves in the world after now. They should focus on becoming a competitive talent, and the money will start flowing in naturally.

Comrade Kenneth Adegeye, the Youth Coordinator II urged the trainees to be good ambassadors and ensure they make the best of the opportunities presented by the training programme for personal self growth and development. Speaking further, he charged the trainees to be creative and be ready to bring new innovations to the broadcasting profession by being attentive while urging them to know that application is the utmost goal of learning as unapplied knowledge is as good as having no knowledge.

The Head Of Station of Kaftan TV Ondo, Mr Stephen Adewale welcomed everyone. He said the training will be mostly practical, although some weeks will be dedicated to theoretical knowledge acquisition. He demanded the utmost seriousness of the candidates. He said the opportunities ahead for them are enormous, but their personal input is a great factor. The three months training commenced immediately after the inauguration. This program by the Queen Lilian Adebayo Foundation is a critical contribution to the fight against youth unemployment in Nigeria, also a contribution to the expansion of economic opportunities in Ondo Kingdom. Another batch of the training is planned to commence in April, 2021.
