naptu2:insecurity chased the foreigners away. Fulani herdsmen militia were also attacking other tribes rearing cattle, saying its their exclusive right to rear cattle in Nigeria. My father worked under Ministry of Agriculture and was at a time Director at FADAMA or so. Another thing you should understand about white owned businesses in Nigeria is the Nigerian factor; Nigerians working for them steal from them and making their running cost so high that its difficult for them to remain competitive in business in Nigeria. Foreign owned businesses in Nigeria can only survive in high profit business ventures like oil and gas where the profit and revenue from the business will absorb the numerous stealing by their staffs. This is why logistics and haulage and transport companies spring up daily and die daily in Nigeria - stealing by their staffs, the Nigerian factor. 1 Like |

naptu2:British people made up their minds to leave Nigeria entirely, except in oil exploration which they remained through their national oil conglomerates. So don't count those time please. |

BlackBaron:Tsefly disease would be easier to control in a ranch than moving cows up and down It seems though that generally The main TseTse fly disease ; trypanosomiasis is no longer so prevalent as it was before because we no longer hear about it as a public health issue The main thing to successful ranching is supply of food either produced by the farmer or bought from local producers This generally tends to be maize but it seems cassava is a good alternative. Why can't farmers buy cassava from farmers Also even grass can be cut , dried and pressed into blocks during the rainy season. Cassava also can be dried Both can be transported by rail anywhere they are required The main challenge is these efforts require capital investment too bring down the prices to increase viability. Cassava farmers are mainly small players but with huge investment cassava can transform the industry not just for cattle but for goats and pigs |
