Feeling a little downbeat of late? Experience stomach aches, muscle pains and a rapid heartbeat? Suffering from upset stomach, nausea, constipation and diarrhea? All these are signs that your body is under stress. Here’s why you shouldn’t ignore them.

Stress forces us to adopt behaviors that we previously can’t imagine to have. They include overeating or under eating, angry outbursts at our loved ones, alcohol misuse or even abuse. It also exposes us to potential obesity, blood pressure problems and an increased risk of stroke.

Fortunately all these effects aren’t reversible. You can as easily get rid of them as you can prevent them from making an appearing. All you need to do is to act on the below-mentioned ways to manage your stress and live a healthy and (relatively) stress-free lifestyle.

Here are five ways you can bring down your stress levels:

1. Break Your Silence
Always remember that stress can be very harmful when you hide your issues. Because a wound can get worse if it is not treated properly. The same is the case with stress if you don’t want to admit it then you are increasing pressure on your brain that will burst out your personality one day.

Research has also shown that when you share your personal experiences with others it releases the level of stress and anxiety. So break your silence and talk to your loved ones. A mental health expert said if you don’t have close relations then talk to your neighbors or your friends or colleagues but don’t harm yourself with the pain of silence.

Now if you are ready to talk, then do brainstorming and make a list of supportive people in your circle. After that simply chose the most loyal and helpful ones.it will make you comfortable to share your negative thoughts or different side of your personality

Mental health issues and stress were once stigmatized how, things have now changed. You can read hundreds of case studies on social media. Famous personalities talk about it openly. Electronic media freely broadcasts documentaries on psychological issues including stress. Seminars are being conducted in educational institutes to assure you that you are Not Alone.

2. Maintain a Healthy Diet
Good nutrition is a very important tool to release stress. Our diet and stress are interlinked with each other. Poor habits might end up weakening the immune system .When we eat a healthy and balanced diet it helps to maintain our physical as well as mental health conditions.

That is why you might want to prefer veggies over bakery items while sitting beside your UVC light bulb. Or grab a cup of tea – and not that of coffee – when you’re getting bored. Such choices won’t only lower your stress levels. But they would also give lifestyle a massive boost.

Here are some dos and don’ts to maintain a healthy diet.
 Avoid Bakery items. If you want to strengthen your body then avoid bakery items as well as junk food such as bread, cakes, pastries, pizzas, fast food, burgers, alcohol, etc. Don’t use processed and packaged food try to replace it with natural food.

 Eat Green. Try to eat fresh veggies and fruits on daily basis. Vegetables and fruits are a great source of vitamin C which is responsible to produce cortisol hormone, which is also known as the ‘feel good hormone’ for the positive changes it brings out in our personality.

 Herbal Teas. Excessive use of caffeinated drinks decreases the energy level of the body. Replace caffeinated drinks with fresh juices and filtered water. Herbal teas are also helpful in maintaining internal body health.

 Dark Chocolate. If you are suffering from stress and also a chocolate lover then this is good news for you. According to experts, daily use of dark chocolate in an adequate amount lowers and it satisfies our chocolate craving too.

 Eat everything in moderation: Can’t skip all those fatty meals? Then you might want to keep your calorie intake in check. That means eating everything in moderation and not treating every meal as if you’re going to stay hungry for a week after having it.

3. Meditate Daily
Meditation acts as a medicine for the body in a stressful situation. It provides deeper relaxation and helps to maintain mental health. Meditation has proved very beneficial not only for mental well-being but also for physical health.

It helps the person to deal with stressful situations calmly and peacefully.it increases the tolerance level and creativity and helps to reduce negative thoughts. Everyone can achieve a better lifestyle by decreasing heart rate and lowering oxygen consumption with the help of meditation and yoga.

In today’s era, restless sleep has become a major problem. If you want to sleep like a child, then go ahead for meditation because it is scientifically proven that meditation keeps our mind calm and helps in maintaining a healthy sleeping habit.

Meditation magically reduces the symptoms of asthma, depression, anxiety, and even heart problems. But keep in mind if you are struggling with the above-mentioned problems, consult your doctor first. Because meditation is not an alternative to typical medical management.

4. Do Deep Breathing Exercises
It’s a proven fact that when someone is stuck in a difficult situation for a long time the only way they can relax your body and mind is to think about well-meaning things. Now if you are stressed out and want immediate help then it's only you who can help you out.

Here are some easy steps to follow.
1. When your heart rate is increasing and you feel palpitations, now lie down straight on the floor.
2. Close your eyes because your mind needs to focus on some situations.
3. This step is a real mind game that you’ll play now. Imagine yourself in a beautiful garden or on a peaceful beach or anywhere where you find yourself cool and calm.
4. Now take deep breaths in and out at a slow pace. Don’t rush, it requires 10 to 15 minutes to bring back your body to a normal situation.
5. When you are on 4th step then be confident and have faith that you can’t die with stress. Your high pulse rate or your abnormal breathing is not permanent.
6. Congratulation! you are back to normal

Here’s another of my favorite deep breathing exercises:
1. Inhale and count to four as you’re taking in outside air
2. Wait for a few seconds before exhaling
3. Count to six while you’re exhaling

5. Find Time for Leisure Activities
Life is too busy to find some quality time for us. We carry heavy loads of responsibilities on us. We are too much busy to perform our work and household tasks on daily basis. Other than that we find wastage of time. We have forgotten that our mind is like a pressure cooker whose pressure is increasing speedily. The massive pressure will burst out one day and will ruin everything.

So before reaching that point we need a balance between work and relaxation. Because a balance between work and rest is very important for our mental wellness and physical well-being. Now the question is what is that balance? Hint: You won’t be able to get it sitting right next to your UVC sterilizer. You’d have to go outside.

One can achieve work-life balance by finding time for leisure activities. Whether you decide to go for a walk, or to watch television, or to enjoy the party with dear ones, all are different shapes of leisure time. You can therefore make time for any of them based on your routine.

Whichever activity you choose will play an important role to relax your body and brain. Always remember anything that gives you pleasure will reduce your anxiety and stress level. Being involved in leisure activities will also improve your skill to perform better in your responsibilities as well.

Conclusion
There are five ways using which you can manage stress. The first and by far the most important involves you breaking your silence and telling a loved one how you’re feeling. It might be difficult for you but once you’ve acted on this tip, you’d realize the benefits it provides.

Secondly, you might want to maintain a healthy diet. That doesn’t mean that you should stop eating all the things you love. True, you might want to replace some of them with green veggies and herbal tea. But on the whole, all you’ve to do is to eat everything in moderation.

The final three ways require you to meditate on a daily basis, find time for leisure activities and do deep breathing exercises multiple times a day. The first two require you to plan, whereas the last one could be done anywhere, whether you’re busy at the office or about to go to sleep.
