Nigerians Plan Another Protest Over Reopening Of Lekki Tollgate

Nigerians have resolved to stage another protest over the ruling of the Lagos State Judicial Panel allowing Lekki Concession Company to regain possession and reopen the Lekki tollgate.

The tollgate has been closed following the shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers and police.

The Lagos panel was divided as five of the nine members of the panel led by Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd), voted in support of the reopening of the tollgate at the last sitting on Saturday.

Irked by the decision of the panel, Nigerians have planned a protest at the tollgate stating that the tollgate remains shut until justice is served to the victims of the Lekki shooting.

The protest has been fixed for Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 7am.

Tweeting in support of the protest, Omoyele Sowore, said the tollgate must remain shut until the perpetrators of the killings are brought to justice.

Social media influencer, Ayemojubar, who also tweeted in support of the protest, referenced a quote by Emiliano Zapata, main leader of the peasant revolution in the Mexican state of Morelos between 1910 and 1920.

Other Nigerians have also taken to social media to express their backing for the protest.

@RYemoja said: “Those that destroy our young protesters at Lekki can't ever appear before the panel because of conscience, history will never forget the lawless military.”

@Dannyrockie said: “We won't surrender to evil. We won't be muted against our rights. We won't become cowards overnight in doing the right thing. No justice scales. No peace for the enemies. No justice, no reopening.”

@UncleShinelz tweeted saying: “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. Our oppressors are not slowing down anytime soon, we must slow or calm down neither! #RevolutionNow #EndSARS #Lekkitollgate.”

@JGagariga said: “That toll gate should never be open, it's out of the desperation to reopen the toll gate the soldiers were called in to carry out #LekkiMassacre, there's no excuse whatsoever that the toll should come back, how many victims of #LekkiMassacre have gotten justice? #EndSARS.”

So if the soldiers shoot at computer village or the Seaport, the next thing is for these places to be shut down and destroyed?

Many of you guys don’t even give a bleep about the victims but you just want it shut for few reasons:

1. People don’t want to pay tolls again because we have been wired to think the government can provide everything so we should use it for free instead.

2. The people that think Tinubu owns it, they want it shut down to get back at Tinubu and have a bragging right.

3. Those celebrity that want to trend again with this.

4. People that are really concerned (unfortunately they are few).

One funny thing is that people are passing the tollgate currently and the only difference is that toll fees are not being paid. So I really don’t understand how people could disrespect the ‘dead’ and keep driving through the place if that’s the narrative they are pushing.

To be sincere, that lekki toll gate is not supposed to be reopened.

Lets use it as a sacrifice for the blood of the innocent wasted across the nation during end SARS protests.

Motorists plying that route are happy with less traffic.

Sanwolu, shouldn't listen to those clamoring for it's reopening.

This is joblessness...If truly we are so concerned about those who died during the last ENDSARS protest, then we should be mobilising towards forming a formidable force come 2023 to get the right people in power. Let's channel this same energy into 2023 election. Some selfish people who are already over fed are using gullible Nigerians to cause distraction. If we are really concerned about those who actually died during the last ENDSARS protest, then we should be occupying BUSHES, EXPRESS, SAMBISA and all troubled areas where BANDITS, BOKO HARAM and the rest kill people on a daily basis. Businesses are bleeding, the economy is seriously battered from the impact of COVID19 and the last ENDSARS protest, but some jobless and lifeless fools are here shouting #OCCUPYLEKKITOLLGATE# So many idiots will just follow the bandwagon without reasoning.

If your plan is to destroy Lagos, it won't work. Peter Okoye should go and protest in his own State
