your assertion is grossly erroneous, if not he wouldn't have been in the opposition for six years and wouldn't have won an award for being the most prominent voice against the government in power. If it's true that he's jumping ship then there must have been an issue within d PDP that he's not comfortable about not necessarily because he wants the money.
