Barely a week into the new year the internet was awash with a facebook post credited to one Godwin George concerning an unfortunate incident along Abak road,Uyo,Akwa-Ibom.In which a female Corper serving in Uyo indentified as Odume Princess Paschaline early morning about a month ago was being mobbed by a large crowd after she was caught with blood stains on her person trying to scale a fence.She was found to have gruesomely hacked a guy identified as Japhet Akwaowo she had gone to hook up in his house overnight with a matchete.For the intervention of the police she was almost set ablaze, but was arrested and detained at the police headquarters Uyo.There was so much controversy on the issue as the guy was gruesomely murdered ,infact hacked to pieces cult like syle.Which left so much doubt if the corper with a petite stature could easily overpower and hack in such a gruesome manner without any challenge from him. As in the video when she was being mobbed she was claiming her innocence. How ever it was allerged " According to her when she was question before the police arrived. She came home with the guy on agreement to be settled after sex. After rounds of knacking she asked for her cash and the guy brought out Machete".
The Police later came up with a absorb story on her behalf that she indeed killed him out of self defense when he allegedly tried to rape her. (The police spokesperson in the state, Odiko Ogbeche-Macdon said Odume claimed Akwaowo threatened to kill her upon her refusal to oblige his request to remove her clothes so that he could have sex with her.

Macdon said “She actually killed the young man identified as Akwaowo Japhet. She said she went to buy bean cake, akara, and saw a man that beckoned to her to come over to him. She said she went to meet him, they got talking and she found herself in his house. ). Her said claim left so much gaping holes in unraveling the mystery behind the gruesome hacking of the young man.And compounded the storyline more as she was not interviewed by the press.Then only for another lady to come over the internet to claim that the same young man raped her farback 2017.Obviously to seemly justify the said action taken by the corper against the same rape attempt on her by the young man. The young man was also allegedly found of hooking up with girls for sex and not paying them after. Till date a month after the Police is yet to charge her to a competent court of law and is still detaining her. However the basic fact clearly established is she killed the guy,for what ever reason,the end doesnt justify the means..But the question that is still an enigma is the nature and module of the way she killed him.Which is seemly attributed to a psychopath,as he was gruesomely and horrificly hacked to death..Her claim of self defense seemly doesn't seem to hold much watershed as she spent the night with him in his own house on her own accord,not the other way round. Talkless of her resultant action of gruesome hacking which doesnt portray an act of said defense.Taking a clue from a publication "The Bible thus indicate that a person may defend himself or his family if physically assaulted. He may ward off blows,restrain the attacker, or even strike a blow to stun or incapacitate him.The intention would be to neutalize the aggresion or stop the attack.On the other hand what if a persons life is threathened by an assailant. A law that God gave ancient Israel sheds light on this.If a thief was caught in the daytime and was killed ,the assailant would be charged with murder. this is evidently because thievery did not carry the death penalty and the theif could have been identified and brought to justice. However if an intruder was fatally struck at night,the householder could be exonerated because it would be difficult for him to see what the intruder was doing and to ascertain the intentions of the intruder.The householder could reasonably conclude that his family was under threat of harm and take defensive action.On the long run when eventually the case is called up in court.It would be of great interest to conclude the outcome.However with the slow pace of The Judiciary in Nigeria which we all know is very slow in indispensing cases.Such cases run up to half a decade before conclusion and to conclude taking a clue from the Bible we should avoid situations with a potential for violence.
