Two students have allegedly being killed during a clash between rival cult groups in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo state.

The clash, which was said to have been fueled by the outcome of the Students’ Union election, has raised the tension in the Ondo state owned polytechnic.

The management of the institution had earlier declared the election inconclusive due to what it described as ‘low turnout of students’.

Reports claimed that only students who have fully paid their tuition were initially allowed to vote but the management later decided to postpone the election to a later date in a bid to allow all students vote without using payment as a factor.

According to our source, “One of the students was killed at the spot while the other one who was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Owo has been declared dead now. No where is safe, students are scared of reprisal attacks.

“One of the victims is an ND (I) student while the other one is unknown already”

The identity of the victims remains unknown at the time this report was made as efforts to reach the management have proved unproductive.
