2nd Niger Bridge: A reality to behold - AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu (Imo Deputy Speaker).

Imo State Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for fulfilling his campaign promises as it concerns the building of second Niger Bridge for the South-East zone at the tone of 366 Billion naira.

Iwuanyanwu who is among the South-East delegation at the inspection tour ably led by Imo State Governor, H.E Gov Hope Uzodimma extolled the good virtues of Uzodimma and in his wisdom for creating an avenue for the world to feel and assess the great impact of President Buhari's administration in South-East with the construction of over 40 decade 2nd Niger bridge; which past administrations could not achieve, but APC under President Buhari made it a reality to behold.

Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu, who broke the record as the youngest deputy speaker in the history of Nigeria thanked President Buhari onbehalf of Igbo youths for the bridge construction ongoing which is 55% completed and promised to repay him with massive registration of youths of APC in the South-East at the ongoing registration & Revalidation exercise in 36 states of the federation to compliment the efforts of the presidency in the region.

Dignitaries from Igbo extraction who graced this invitation includes; Hon Uche Ogah ( Hon. Minister of state for steel and mining), Chief Dr Ikedi Ohakim (Former governor of Imo State), Rt. Hon Paul Emeziem (Speaker IMHA), Rt. Hon. AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu (DSP IMHA), President General Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Obiozor, Sen Andy Ubah, traditional rulers Political gladiators and South-East Stakeholders mongst others.

The Second Niger Bridge was first proposed during the 1978/1979 political campaign by then candidate of NPN, Shehu Shagari.

In 1987, Minister for Works and Housing Abubakar Umar, under General Ibrahim Babangida regime asked engineers to design The Second Niger Bridge due to rising challenges.

Under the subsequent military governments, the projects received little or no attention till the return of civilian rule under President Olusegun Obasanjo who promised to deliver a second Niger River bridge of our dreams.

His administration failed to achieve it till five days before he handed over to then incoming administration of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, when the project was flagged off by Obasanjo in Asaba. With the death of President Yar'adua marred the progress of the project.

During Jonathan administration, nothing was done at the project site till the inception of President Buhari as GCON, GCFR in 2014 and took over the affairs of the bridge.

The bridge which was started in September 1 2018 will terminate by February 2022 spanning over 1.6 km. The bridge cost 366 Billion Naira and is being handled by Julius Berger Construction Company.

The ongoing bridge construction will go through Asaba to Ozubulu and Ogbaru areas of Anambra State, Nigeria.

Lol. Trust Igbo to be totally missing on this thread.

With all the noise they would have made if this is bad news about Tinubu or PMB, the silence of Igbos on these sort of thread really show what chronic and irredeemable haters many of them are.

Even when the odd Igbo will comment it will be to insult PMB. We will soon see proof.

The way and manner these BMC are eulogizing on the yet to be completed second Niger bridge always amaze me. This is a Bridge that has only about 30 percent of the work done yet everyday you snap the same pictures of an uncompleted project and flood it all over the Internet.
This is a bridge that will be paid by igbos. There will be a toll gate on it and every Igbo person moving in and out of Igbo land will be made to pay for the bridge when they eventually complete it. Now ask me why nobody is making noise on the rail project and dry sea port ,refineries that they are building in the north.

Any foreigner who keeps hearing about the second Niger bridge everyday in the news will think it's trailblazing engineering feat but they wouldn't even understand why an ordinary bridge being built by a private construction company that hopes to mount toll gate at its completion is being hyped like this.

Buhari is building a railway line into Niger rep (a foreign country) that costs far more than this bridge, and would be 100% paid for by the federal government yet nobody is calling out Nigeriens to worship Buhari.

Buhari is building pipelines into Niger rep at 100% cost to the federal government, no one is calling out Hausas to worship Buhari.

Modern railway lines have been built between Abuja to Kaduna that cost far more than this bridge, at100% cost to the federal government, I didn't see where Hausas were being called out to worship GEJ who started it or Buhari who finished it!

Railway line between Lagos and Ibadan has been completed, and at 100% cost to the federal government, I didn't see anyone calling out Yorubas to worship Buhari. However, they wouldn't allow Igbos to rest because of a bridge being built by a private company called Julius Berger, which they are going to tax us until they get their money back.

Wicked and hypocritical people!!!

Go and hold Jonathan for what you are complaining about. We all watched him sign a PPP agreement that created the tollgate clause on the agreement. One of the companies in the PPP agreement belongs to patience Jonathan. Lets blame our own for their mistakes, same Jonathan build a bridge in Kano with national budget and no PPP trash.

The bridge across the River Niger at Asaba and Onicha does not belong to Ndigbo. It is in the same status as any other bridge that crosses the River Niger at various point along the course of the river. How many bridges crossed River Niger in Nigeria? Why are dumbass politicians in Igbo land tend to make the bridge between Asaba and Onicha any Igbo thing?

Work commenced in the bridge in 2014 by the President, Jonathan. The job stopped in 2015 following change in government.Without Jonathan laying the foundation, the present government wouldn't have initiated the project. So it is a continuation of the project of Jonathan government.

Those parading themselves as our politicians are very myopic, unreasonable, timid and suffering from inferiority complex.

Ask yourself what's the business of Hope Uzodinma at that bridge? The bridge does not connect directly to Imo State and would be used by Imo people same way Cross River, Benue, Kogi, Rivers and indeed other Nigerians will use it. Does it have any direct bearing on Imo State?

Why are they falling over themselves in celebrating a bridge like it is going to solve all our problems not minding that this is a private sector investment and users will be made to pay for it.

How many billion dollars is the KKK massive pipeline project to supply North with gas going to cost? Katsina airport? Lagos to Kano railway? Kano airport? Flyovers built in Kano by federal government? Abuja to Kaduna railway? Oil exploration in the North East? I can go on to list so many projects the federal government is building in the North as well as other regions with non in the East. The funny thing is that the Northerners both their leaders and masses all take the projects for granted but look at how our so called leaders are disgracing themselves over a mere bridge Julius Berger is building with their money.
SMH!
