Take a close look at her group of friends and you”ll discover how Obasanjo and GEJ made no mistake in appointing her as the finance minister. Her group of friends tell us the importance of contacts and connections in the world of finance, economics, diplomacy and international affairs.

Congratulations madam.

You really merit the position....

Back then, when Dr Jonathan wanted to re-appoint you as Finance minister, I was opportuned to be close to the Ministry. Most of the staff didn't want you back because you don't tolerate corruption and laziness. Though, they agreed that you were the best they've ever worked with.

Politics, religion, and tribalism will not let most Nigerians admit your great achievements for the country while you were there.

You rose to the zenith at World Bank. If not for world politics, you would have emerged as President of World Bank, being the best candidate for the post.

You have occupied different positions at world stage in economic reforms, making you the most qualified for this job.

I know you have what it takes to perform beyond expectations at WTO. I pray for God to guides and guard you right.

Congratulations madam! How she became the DG-WTO is inconsequential because a good product is always a good product. This is the global stage where bigotry, nepotism and parochial sentiments have no part to play because everyone will want the best trade relations that will benefit their member country.

How NOI and Akinwunmi Adeshina(2 products of the Jonathan presidency) went on to dominate the global stage should be case study of how merit counts while mediocrity ruins development as is the case back home.

NOI is never a Jonathan product but Obasanjo!

What a 21st century 'Mumu and Oponu' analysis! A super dumb and nepotism view on the whole issue?

Mention any international organisation you had worked with? If you had ever worked with any, you will know that bigotry, nepotism and parochial sentiments are the order in those organisation and in fact, they're part of selection processes!
You people with empty brain will just be posting nonsense!

Do you think if Buhari government didn't support them, they will even make the list? Do you even know the criteria to be nominated in any UN organ like WTO? I swear! You need to swap your brain with N100 glo card!

This is a fact that will hurt you! Kudos to Buhari! Are you aware of number of positions we currently enjoyed at various International organisation? All during Buhari! Even, we didn't enjoyed that during lousy OBJ!

And it means respect of respect from international community! Why do you think all your noises about insecurity, bad economy and your continuous wailing is not shaking him!

and someone all in the name of sentiment went and picked his half-baked tribeswoman as finance minister. Someone who's not even fit to be commissioner of finance in any South Western state. I'm not surprised seeing our economy in such a dwindling state it has cound itself

Why all this bro? You are one of the reasons why this country will be hard to progress with this myopic and tribalistic mindset.

3 things in life define your success in respective of your tribe and religion
1: hardwork
2: grace
3:time

Know that and have sense!

The United States said, however, it could not support the candidacy of Okonjo-Iweala and said it would continue to back the South Korean candidate Yoo Myung-hee.

Mitcheww Very arrogant people. Yeye

Okonjo-Iweala reacts to the US strong support for Yoo Myung-Hee, despite over 100 countries backing her (October 29, 2020)

Happy for the success & continued progress of our @wto DG bid. Very humbled to be declared the candidate with the largest, broadest support among members & most likely to attract consensus. We move on to the next step on Nov 9, despite hiccups. We're keeping the positivity going!
