During the time when the trio of Yorubas, Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis were trying to negotiate the terms of our cohabitation, laying things down with laws and constitutions, the Igbos and the Hausa/Fulanis were trying to steal the Ogun/Lagos because of the water resource and commercial value from Yoruba, saying it is no man's land, the Yorubas seriously disagreed and were angry,
but they (The Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis) backed down. During this period of negotiation, after knowing the Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis aim to neutralise Ogun/Lagos, the Yorubas, not being happy with with their (Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis) body language then raised a motion to make it part of the constitution that "If anyone of the Yorubas, Igbos and the Hausa/Fulanis feel unsatisfied and marginalised, they should have the right to secession." The Igbos were not happy about this development from the Yorubas and went to collude with the Hausa/Fulanis and make it part of the constitution that "It should be treated as treason if anyone should try to seceed from Nigeria." This made it difficult for the Yorubas to seceed from Nigeria and they had to accept faith.
