KABIYESI, THIS IS THE LEGAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE STRANGER YOU CROWNED A "KING" AS SERIKI. An urgent legal education to the Obas.
*************************************
We may begin honestly to ask, "Is there a SERIKI YORUBAWA in North, OBI OF YORUBA in Onitsha?
OMONOBA YORUBA in Benin? Then there's nothing wrong in appointing SERIKI & IGWE in Yoruba land.
And very soon an Oba shall balkanize his ancestral kingdom to the preeminence of strangers albeit
ignorantly.
In the days of our fathers, they know which chieftaincy title to give to strangers. If you have honoured someone as the ATOHUNRINWA OF SABO, OR ATOHUNRINWA IGBO he would at least know that it doesn't sound like being crowned another
KING in your ancestral domain.
In law however, a SERIKI in SAGAMU has the fiat to order disobedience to AKARIGBO. WHY? In law he has not delegated his authority HE HAS SHARED THE LAND TO THE STRANGER "king".
If I am his lawyer, I would congratulate the SERIKI and advise him that he has unfettered right to SELL LAND IN SABO Shagamu or Sabo Ijebuode or Sabo Ibadan etc. where you vested him with that Royal title. He has the right to COMMAND OBEDIENCE TO SHARIA LAWS WITHIN THAT PREMISES OF SABO.
Until when our obas meet that Waterloo, they would not seek the counsel of many of their illustrious
indigenes that are learned in Laws before they confer titles on strangers.
In fact, a Customary court would ask the Oba if his ancestors ever crowned a stranger with ROYAL NAME & TITLE.
If you want to be MODERN, then apply modern wisdom that does not turn a king to a tenant in his
own land.
It's sad if ignorantly or otherwise an OBA AJAGUNGBADE now crowns an OBA FOWOGBADE to balkanize his inherited domain into two or more kingdoms.
Kaabiyesi ooo! That's how an Oba should greet a SERIKI or OBI or IGWE that he appoints in his own
domain.
All Obas in Oduduwa kingdom should now wake up with due alacrity AND WRITE OFFICIALLY TO WITHDRAW SUCH TITLES AS SERIKI, OBA, IGWE, OBI, ASIWAJU, BALE, BALOGUN, OTUNBA, PARAKOYI,
LATOOSA, AARE etc given to STRANGERS thinking it is mere honorary titles.
The Supreme Court has the priviledge to ask a CUSTOMARY COURT in your own domain to INTERPRET THE IMPLICATIONS OF THAT TITLE that you confered or carelessly condone.
Let everyone bring this advise to every Oba in Yoruba kingdom before it's too late. Let us not delay
until a SERIKI would petition that he must be member of the Council of Traditional Rulers in Yoruba land.

The Yorubas are very good at selling off their crowns to strangers.....The story of "afonja" is still fresh in our memories.....

The Fulanis will by all means claim original ancestry to the Yoruba land in few decades to come... Just as Kwara state is officially a land of the Fulanis....

Yoruba obas are mentally lazy and greedy. I see us struggling and competing for land with fulani and hausa in the future. In 60 years , there would emirate in many yoruba states.

You call them hungry kings but how many of his subjects pay him isakole like in the olden days. They have been so relegated to the background that the LG is more powerful chairman than them.

Let the Yorubas take care of their kings so they dont go hungry to sell out their land to strangers.
