Can I as a single lady adopt and train a child in Nigeria?

Is there any law against single foster parenthood, and for what reason/s?

please, enlighten my ignorance.

Last I heard, single persons aren't allowed to adopt children in Nigeria, except someone entrusted a child to you and you've been responsible for the child for a significant period of time.
