Buhari Ruthless With #EndSARS Protesters But Showing Restraints With Bandits -Yinka Odumakin

LAGOS – Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari demonstrated double standards in his dealing with criminal bandits and #EndSARS protesters.

The President on Friday said that his government has the capacity to deploy massive force against Fulani bandits in the villages where they operate but has to put into consideration the lives of innocent citizens.

Buhari said his government’s limitation is the fear of heavy casualties of innocent villagers and hostages who might be used as human shields by the bandits.
But speaking in a chat with Daily Independent Odumakin wondered why the president can’t exercise same restraint while dealing with #EndSARS who were demanding reforms and good governance.

“The Nigerian state has become a degenerate state that has regulated the harassment of its citizens.
“It was the same Friday that they wanted to arrest Sunday Igboho that President Muhammadu Buhari was saying that he was careful about arresting bandits because he was trying to avoid casualties.

“When they wanted to brutalise the #EndSARS protesters, they didn’t think of that. It shows you that clearly, we are in a disappearing state. The Nigerian state has completely collapsed under Buhari,” he said.

Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state once said it but he is not different himself.

He cannot prosecute bandits, criminal herders because he's from the north. Have never seen a president as impartial as buhari.
