The Senate president said this while lamenting that banditry is becoming an industry in the country.
Following the high rate of insecurity in the country, Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President has stated that certain individuals are benefitting from banditry in Nigeria and must be fished out.
Lawan spoke after the confirmation of the service chiefs.

He lamented that banditry is becoming an industry in the country.

The Senate president who urged the service chiefs to stop the ugly trend, described the situation as unacceptable.

Lawan said, “A situation whereby a group of people will go to a school and take away three-hundred students on motorcycles is not accepted.

“Kidnapping without a trace is not acceptable. Something has to be done because, apparently, this is becoming an industry, some people are benefiting from this, and we have to unravel who these people are and fight bandits and insurgents until we rescue our country.

“Let me also advise the service chiefs that there must be an interagency corporation between the army, the air force. They are supposed to have complementary roles.

“We promise them and indeed Nigerians that we will support them in whatever way the parliament can come to their support.”

The newly confirmed service chiefs are Maj. Gen. Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea lrabor as Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru (Chief of Army Staff); Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, (Chief of Naval Staff); and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao as Chief of Air staff.

They replaced ex-Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; ex-Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar and ex-Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas.

As the senate president you failed in your duty to checkmate the executives and when the executive failed your duty is to rally your fellow senators to impeach the president but you failed woefully reason the senate under your leadership is a rubber Stamp senate

We promise them and indeed Nigerians that we will support them in whatever way the parliament can come to their support.”

Lip service and poor performance.

It's unfortunate for Nigerians to have these sets of rubber stamp lawmakers.
