How many of you can afford to eat chickens in the North?

During the lockdown when movement out of the North was restricted, Poultry farmers in the North were throwing their eggs away. Their customers are those with money in the South.

We dont eat chicken in the north.

We eat, cow, sheep, ram and goat

Have you ever eaten sheep and goat suya before?

It's the farmers that are taking a beating especially those farmers of perishables like vegetables, onions and peppers.

Omodasola Yusuf, Iyalaje of Olodo market, said rice, beans, and other goods have been very difficult to purchase due to the blockade.

“Dry pepper that was sold for N700 five days ago is now N1,000,” she said.

“We urge the government to help us and ensure that there is unity in Nigeria so that everyone will not die of hunger.”

Yeah poor masses will suffer not farmers.

Most farmers are on contract with the wholesalers.

The wholesalers will be affected.

The poor would find alternatives like egusi, garri and palmoil, fishes, local goats and fowls (in small portions). Humans always find a way to adapt to survive.

It's the farmers that are taking a beating especially those farmers of perishables that can rot like vegetables, onions and peppers. They might not be able to recover from the loss.

Same shit China does to Canada, US and other western countries. When China (customer) boycotts farm produce from the west, the farmers start crying.

LESSON: Every state and region in Nigeria should pay attention to agricultural development. This strike exposed the good gap. Imagine what a drought situation in the North would do to agricultural products availability in the rest of Nigeria.
OPPORTUNITIES: SE, SW and SS should exploit its agricultural and marine resources to the full for food security and employment. There is no reason why poultry and fishery products should not be competing with beef.
THREATS: This deliberate food blockade by Northern agricultural product traders is an unfortunate precedence that might be used to justify a lot of things that will shake the unity of Nigeria in future.
The non-intervention of FG is a failure of government because if Niger Delta militants decides to protest the allocation of oil well to Norherners, it will be justified.
REALITY: Whoever is aggrieved has the right to show his grievance. The losses during EndSars protests and the recent bloody fallout of market ledership problem in Oyo State market provided an opportunity for Northern agricultural products traders to make a point. They have made their point that but like EndSars protest organizers, they are overstretching the show of grievance into act of sabotage and punishment with far-reaching consequences.
MISTAKE: It is a mistake for agricultural products traders to make its strike action appear like protest in support of excesses of Fulani herdsmen is a big mistake. Traders issue and herdsmen issue are two different things.

You are shying away from the point.
The oil you talked about belongs to the gvt.
The food stuffs belongs to individual northern Biz men, so,federal govt can't do anything. Assuming the fed govt has agricultural food pyramids used for exports like G/nut, beans etc then, it your assertion wwill

My mom bought #700 worth of tomatoes in Lagos last month . The tomatoes were so much that I had to complain to her because we didn't have steady electricity and enough space to store the tomatoes.
Fast forward to this week , my mom has just been making jest of me because of how high the prices of tomatoes are now angry grin
