BREAKING: COVID-19 Vaccination begins in Abuja. The #FCT Minister Mr. Mohammed Musa Bello in his remarks extended his sincere appreciation to all the health workers who have worked tirelessly to contain the spread of the #COVID19 pandemic.

UPDATES: 150 health workers are expected to get the vaccine today. The first healthcare worker to get the first jab today is Dr. Cyprian Nyong.

The World Health Organisation guidelines list 3 categories of people that should be given priority and vaccinated first. These are:

1) Healthcare workers, because they are at greater risk of exposure to the virus and their expertise is needed to combat the disease.

2) Leaders: This includes political, religious and other strategic leaders. This is done to convince the masses that the vaccines are safe.

3) The elderly and people with diseases like HIV, high blood pressure, etc. because they are more likely to require hospitalisation if they get the disease.

Providing a vaccine that does not guarantee 100% immunity from contracting the virus if exposed to it...moreso no guarantee 100%cure if infected yet so much noise and publicity around and on it. SMH
