GOVERNOR Sule Lamido of Jigawa state has assented to N77, 292, 497, 000 budget for 2011 fiscal year.

The Governor had presented an appropriation bill of N77, 250, 000, 000 to the Jigawa State House of Assembly on the December 31, 2010 for the 2011 fiscal year. But the House reviewed the budget upward by N42, 47, 000 as a result of the opening balance, which was carried forward from the previous year.

Appending his signature on the budget document last week, at the Government House, in Dutse, Lamido pointed out that his administration, in the last four years, achieved 90 per cent budget implementation and success.

He added that within the period, his administration carried out all its activities without recourse to loan from anywhere. The achievements, he said, manifested on the lives of the people, as they are now radiant with fresh out look. .

In his words: “Let me say that budget creation is a process by which you document based on what you think is your own income, your expenditure for a period of twelve months it is a document that is easy to produce because in the last few years there have been budgets but the question is, how have those budgets been implemented?

“Therefore, budget is supposed to capture government’s expenditure and within the time frame given if they are so available to be used judiciously in applying to those identified sectors, I must say in the lst four years we have achieved 90 per cent budget success and implementation and all these within the accrued income of the State in that four years.”

He thanked the Jigawa people for standing by his administration, saying that they have been part and parcel of the success story of the administration.
