Your Reasons Why The UN is Silent And Unconcerned About The Nigeria Situation by Warripikine: 12:05am On Mar 06, 2021 |
Why are the United Nations’s rights office very unconcerned about the deteriorating human rights situation in Nigeria and the continued and increasing crackdown on innocent citizens? Despite the fact that they have “reliable information” on thousands of people been detained illegally in the various prisons across the country.. Held for years without a single trial... they dont care..! see example(https://www.nairaland.com/6444360/101-boko-haram-suspects-detained#99608230.) How about the various detailed allegations of torture and ill-treatment of Nigerians in detention, including sexual violence,”? see= (http://saharareporters.com/2021/02/23/obigbo-women-forced-wear-same-underwear-four-months-army-detention-%E2%80%93-intersociety) The UN should as a matter of urgency persuade the authorities in Nigeria to free all those arbitrarily detained, cease arbitrary arrests, and stop the use of violence against peaceful protesters.. |

nairalandankrah: Oga, the UN has huge humanitarian activities going on in the north east and else where in Nigeria. Nigeria is one of the top 10 countries where they expend the most budget for humanitarian activities - in the world |

tito44: Mr man, if you've been following up events in the country, you'd have noticed that there's been serious proliferation of human rights abuses in the country.. The UN keeping quiet leaves the perception that the United Nations is indifferent to atrocities, abandoning the victims while often undermining prospects for peace. Speaking out is never easy I know, There is often a political, even a personal, price to pay. But that is the cost of leadership.. This their excessively quiet diplomacy towards Nigeria smells fishy |

Think UN is tired with Nigeria matter. Everything is going down every day in downward spirals yet the people are still silent and calm. Amina Muhammad as DSG is there for the sole purpose of concealing Fulanis endless EVILS. Na one chance we enta my people. You will also noticed that no mainstream global media giants like CNN BBC Aljareera foxnews etc ever bother reporting about Nigeria issues. |

Just one example: The amount of oil stolen on daily basis from Nigeria is most probably bigger than the amount that is reported by the NNPC. The major oil thieves siphoning billions of dollars on yearly basis in this way are the oil multinationals.. Who are the owners? The oyibos who dominate the security council of the UN! The same council entrusted with the responsibility of imposing sanctions and all that... So? Nigeria as a chaos is working perfectly fine for the westerners... Why "fix" it if it's not "broken"? |

Check up the countries that make up the UN Human Rights Council. Then you'll get your answer. And, as someone said earlier, Amina Mohammed is also there to ensure they maintain a blind eye. |

First of all, the Nigerian electorates made their choice in 2015 during the election and also reconfirmed their choice during the 2019 elections so it isn’t the responsibility of the UN to Wade into such . Secondly, Nigerians wished for Buhari’s presidency between 2012-2014 during different manifestations against GEJ,all the policies that would have put us ahead of most crisis we are currently witnessing now were fought against by the opposition and their supporters and to show their disgust for the GEJ presidency, majority of Nigerians voted and supported Buhari for two good terms so it is only reasonable that the UN allows Nigerians to enjoy their choice until 2023 when the general elections should hold again. Lastly, in search for a solution, Nigerians found a major problem. This can only mean that GEJ was Nigeria’s best bet but because he belongs to the ethnic minority, it was easy for the political heavyweights to fight against him, they wrestled power from him for their selfish reasons and today, they couldn’t even maintain the status quo, they derailed the country to a level where nobody can challenge the govt of the day. I’m not a fan of PDP or APC, the truth is that only Nigerians in Diaspora can change Nigeria for good. |
