A PREMIUM TIMES examination of the scarcity shows the hike in price was not market-driven. Nigerians were last week thrown into confusion as fuel scarcity hit Lagos, Abuja, and several other cities across the country. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/447852-inside-story-real-reasons-petrol-scarcity-queues-returned-to-nigerian-fuel-stations.html

I see a ploy by the government to continue milking hungry Nigerians, I see part of these hungry Nigerians hailing the government and encouraging them to continue milking them, I see this particular hungry group fight and attacking geninue Nigerians who are angry and decide to speak up against the government suffocation, I see more suffering ahead. This I have seen. 17 Likes 2 Shares |

Crude oil price crash FG - Nigerians have to pay more for fuel as the government doesn't have money to subsidise refined petrol. Crude oil price increase FG - Nigerians have to pay more for fuel due to increase in the price of crude. 43 Likes 3 Shares |

it is unsustainable to regulate market forces and fix prices for goods you do not produce and therefore do not have any form of control over 2 Likes |

The only reason is that Buhari now knows that the president doesn't know what to do about it. |

Forget all these, they are prevailing issues. The number one reason that should not be overlooked is this government's ineptitude! One Presidential spokesman was singing the praises of his paymasters when there were no queues in December last year. I guess he wasn't informed they saved it for the new year! 7 Likes |

Essentially it is becoming dfficult with the rising price of imported fuel for NNPC to keep fuel subsidsied at N162 per liter At some point, government is either going to face reality and stop controlling fuel prices and allow marketers control the price just like every other businesses or we go into more debt maintaining a subsidy that should have gone since 2012. At this point Nigeria cannot afford subsides for fuel. Unless we want to do it like Canada and raise the money from taxing everyone from the villager to the townsman at very high rates. Oil subsidy must go. Baroness Chalker in 1993, Obasanjo in 2006 and GEJ, NOI and SLS were right in 2012. Stop the subsidy. Let marketers control prices. Let investment flow in and let new refineriea be built as a result of it being profotable to do so |

There is no other reason but INCOMPETENCE. The govt said they have deregulated the sector. Raise in price at the international market should naturally equit raise in local market. Yet, NNPC, DPR and the government are soo confused on what to do. This kind of sluggishness & stupidity will end causing more looses, as filling station will hoard and sell at high prices to "black marketers" who in turn will also increase the price b4 selling it to customers. And as we depend on petrol for nearly almost everything. Na so Inflation go double . In summary, we are SCREWED 2 Likes

There was a hidden plan by the Government to increase the pump price of petrol to 206 per litre, the information was brought to the notice of the marketers. The marketers, not to be caught unaware, had to resort to the artificial scarcity, while waiting for the government line of action. |

Bitter truth; one of the most known achievement in this dispensation is few petroleum products scarcity., however the prices has not been friendly. My own opinion if the scarcity eventually happened then this administration scored zero to my own rating. |
