Before we share our meals with our furry friends, we might want to know what food items they can consume. Dogs aren’t humans hence, they have a different digestive system and they can react badly with some of the food items consumed by humans.
Let`s have a look at some of these items;
1. Alcohol: it causes vomiting, diarrhea, decreased coordination, tremors, depressed central nervous system, coma and eventually death.
2. Chocolate: In addition to vomiting and diarrhea, chocolate contains methylxanthines that can lead to heavy panting, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythms, tremors, seizures and death.
3. Bones (cooked bones): The cooking process of bones causes it to become brittle causing injuries to your dog. Consumption can cause injuries to the gums, lower jaw and broken teeth. Fragments of these bones can also lodge in the esophagus and cause blockage or even puncture the esophagus. They can also cause peritonitis. Peritonitis is a nasty bacterial infection that is caused when sharp objects poke hole in the stomach or intestines.
4. Coffee: coffee, tea, and any food with caffeine are certainly dangerous for your dog and an important addition to our list of foods dogs can’t eat. Caffeine is dangerous to dogs because it elevates the heart rate. This can lead to deadly problems and even heart attacks. Though a very small amount of caffeine in dogs should not cause any serious issues, large doses of caffeine can cause death in dogs if not immediately treated.
5. Salty snacks: it causes excessive thirst and urination. In cases of sodium toxicity; vomiting, diarrhea, hyperthermia, tremors, seizures and death.

if you suspect your pet has been poisoned by any of these items, consult your veterinarian ASAP!!!
