I have followed with the keen interest the current debate over the existing Enugu State Gubernatorial Pensions Laws 2007, which was represented as a personal bill to the State House of Assembly for amendment. I have observed the genuine concerns being expressed by people on social media over this issue. I also observed acts of mischief and undue personal vendetta being advanced by cynics and pessimists, who usually cash in on such engagements to expose their unruliness, lack of character and sense of respect, as portrayed by one Ikem Okuhu.https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/15/jude-nnamani-facts-to-note-about-enugu-state-guber-pensions-law-2007/?amp

True federalism is the only solution to the dearth of this nation. Every state government should function as a state in a state with the parent state acting like a supervisor (USA). 1 Like 1 Share |

Based on the bill, an ex-governor will be entitled to the following every year: Pension = N26,640,000; house maintenance allowance = 200% of annual basic salary. N26,640,00 x 2 =N53,280,000; vehicle maintenance allowance = 200% of annual basic salary, N26,640,00 x 2 =N53,280,000; medical allowance not exceeding N12,000,000; free medical care for him and his wife; adequate security. Let’s say N5,000,000; salaries of three staff @N100,000 each = 100,000 x 3 = N300,000 X 12 = N3,600,000. Total = N153,800,000. Then three vehicles every four years; let’s say each vehicle will cost N50,000,000 = N50,000,000 x 3 = N150,000,000.”That will be over 1.5 BILLION Naira every year. Enugu State is truly in the hands of God. We Rise! 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Whenever they want to defend their evil, they start quoting some aspects of the constitution that suits them. But when it comes to doing what will benefit the common people, they never remember that the constitution exist. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Tinubu was the first Governor to start this life pension in 2007, despite the fact he had been collecting 10% of Lagos tax revenue through Alpha Beta Consulting since 2003. He set a bad precedence for other governors who looted their states dry to follow. 3 Likes |

The way these guys are quick to quote the constitution when it favors them ehn, they have forgotten the constitution is made for the people and not the other way round. If the overwhelming population are against a proclamation therein, then it should be ammended to reflect the will of the people and the times. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I heard the bill is hugely pursued by The executives. The writer of this article failed to mention that State resources will be allocated to Former first ladies. That amendment appears over-reaching and therefore very unlawful. There is NO provision for the office of the First Lady in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( as amended) At current salary, it'd take a Level 6 Officer in Enugu 36 yrs to earn what, The First lady, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi would get as annual "Health Allowance" when her husband leaves office if this bill is passed into law. Everything is wrong with this law! Wake up Ndi Enugu. ENUGU IS NOT IN THE HANDS OF GOD! 5 Likes |

OEPHIUS: This huge amount! Just for people not up to 20. After they have stollen the state to a stand still. Don’t forget the Executive would still lobby (bribe) the Legislatures with billions, get the law approved o. “Salary for life”, as Sister Nkechi of Diamond Bank used to say. |

Ndi Enugu should rise and defend their state from Ali baba and the 40 thieves. Pension law for what? A man becomes a governor, steals your state resources for 8years and you go ahead and pay him pension for what? EFCC should probe Enugu state. Their madam is not doing anything. EFCC should pick up Sullivan and Chimaroke. These 3 men should all be in jail for robbing their states. Only idiots or batasrds support pension law for governors and so is Amoke Louis or Oepius or whatever else he is known as 2 Likes |
