There was palpable drama at the ongoing screening exercise for the recruitment of teachers into the Kwara State teaching service as 5 applicants were arrested for presenting fake NCE certificates.

In a statement by Yakub Ali-Agan, the Press Secretary of Ministry of Education and Human development, the FidelinfoNews gathered that the erring applicants were arrested on the first day of the result verification and interview phase of the recruitment exercise.

The statement named the arrested as, Tanu Suleiman, a disengaged sunset teacher Ibrahim M. Salihu, Muhammed Ismaila, Muhammed Abubakar all from Baruten Local government and Abdulrazaq Abdulakeem from ASA local government.

It further added that Suleiman, Ismaila and Abubakar were caught with fake NCE results from Kwara State College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi, while the duo of Salihu and Abdulakeem were caught with fake results from Kwara State College of Education, Oro. The arrested applicants who had scaled the CBT stage hurdle have been handed to security agencies for further investigations, as a lot of other applicants were seen fleeing the screening center for reasons believed to be related to counterfeit results.

Furthermore, applicants from Ilorin South, Oke Ero, Ekiti and Isin had their screening rescheduled due to the inability of the panel to begin on time, hence applicants from Baruten and ASA were screened on the first day.

“What this means therefore is that applicants from Ilorin South, Isin, Oke Ero, and Ekiti local governments that were earlier booked for Tuesday will be attended to next Monday March 22. Similarly, the TESCOM interview/result verification will now start next Tuesday March 23rd, instead of Monday March 22. Further information will be communicated as may be necessary.” the statement added.

A total of 9,991 applicants met the cutoff point in the two categories of the recruitment exercise, therefore qualifying them for the results verification and interview stage of the process.

It will be recalled that applicants had been mandated to come to the venue of the interview with the original and photocopies of their certificates and result checkers (scratch card) for O levels.
